im looking into dropping a d16 into my 91 base model hatch, ive been told its a direct drop in an different wiring is required, what wiring would i need to get? and if anyone recomends a jdm place i can get one from in los angeles area, any feedback would b great.

Deff, you need the mpfi harness. Around town the A6 is very popular. Although i may have some parts that you can build of if you want to learn. Let me know by pm.

all in all on a scale of 1-10 how hard/easy is it to swap it at home with all the right parts (we have experience in swaping motors)
 
hmm u can allways bolt the dpfi intake manni to the a6 head, and literally plug all ur electronics back up and ur done

For someone with experience, in my opinion no big thang. Lots of good swap threads out there. All the tech data, wiring schematics and such are available on the web for free download if you just look around a little.

Old Honda's are easy to work on.
 
would that effect anything in terms of running/idleing or performance wise i wuld imagine

nope just run everything electronic wise from your dx, even the same ecu and the ecu will think its the same engine, only difference is its a 1.6 other than 1.5, the computer will compensate for everything and u will make more power, and thats put in the simplest terms possible lol
