1993EgHatch

New Member
ok im a noob to this and i want to learn all about hondas. i know a few things about some engines but no enough. ok well anyways i have a 1993 eg hatch that i want to do a swap, and i was thinking of putting a b18c. so my question is what trannys would you reccomend with a b18c and also what is the difference between a cable tranny and a hydro.

You need a hydro transmission. Hydraulic fluid is what moves the clutch on your car. Cable are older models.

B18C can be a JDM GSR or a Type R but there is a price difference.

B18C1 is USDM GSR
B18C5 is USDM Type R

If you are swapping a B-series motor.....Best bang for the buck is a GSR trans (no LSD stock). But Type R has LSD and some JDM GSR's and B16A's come stock with LSD too.

You need to have a dollar amount for the entire swap......down to intake and header.....and then I can help more. It can be cheap (varying based on your mechanical abilities) or expensive.
I've done the cheap way with swaps and now doing the expensive way to do a swap lol. But I'm K-swapping

You have alot to learn. Cable is a cable wire, hydro trans uses hydrulic fluid to engaged and dis engaged.
B18c what?

And you are redundant. Did you read my post and feel like reiterating what I said....but in a-hole fashion??

Or did you not read at all?

There are lots of nOObs.....how the hell do you think anyone gets started? He was honest and tells us he doesn't know much so slow your roll a little.

LMAO cafrog. but to original poster my honest and best advice is to do research we can only give advice not tell you what to do no if you have a problem then we can help like cafrog said give us a price range and we can go from there.

Sorry Mr CAFROG, :mad:I was a little slow typing with my phone. There was no post when I posted.

IF YOU GOT BUTTHURT ABOUT WHAT I SAID TO THE NEWBIE "ABOUT HE HAS ALOT TO LEARN" WHAT'S SO MEAN ABOUT THIS.

SHIT IT'S BEEN 5 MINUTES YOU PROBABLY ALREADY WROTE SOMETHING...

See, even Boosted posted before me and I was here before him.

F****j***c..

You can get a JDM GSR running in your hatch for that budget.

For a easier swap......buy one that is complete.
It can be cheaper to part the thing together until its done but that can be a pain in the ass too.

Look into a reputable JDM Engine Importer and buy the complete OBD1 swap (you're OBD1 already so stay there).
Get the complete longblock (engine harness, alt, starter, TB,etc), transmission, axles, the shift linkage, all the mounts, OBD1 P72 ECU.

Do you have an USDM Engine harness right now? If so.....what one? That can make things cheaper
