One thing I have noticed about my car is that even when normal driving, my underhood temps are crazy hot. Im not having overheating problems or anything, just a lot of heat and heat soak going on under the hood. I know this is common with turbo setups and I have read about the subject a little. I just came here for more input...

I have seen there are several types of coating you can get done on your turbo manifold, etc. but dont know much about them. Also turbo blankets? and then of course vented hoods... I have an oem hood, and Im not against cutting it. Any thoughts? ideas?

had the same prob on my ls-v turbo crx i sold, one thing you can do is wrap the manifold in heat wrap it droped the temp 5 degrees, then the hood i replaced with a vis invader style hood and actually got a reduction of 15 degrees more with the rear hood spacers. i had also had it tuned (i waste tomuch in tuneing better right then wrong) and got a noticable 6hp hain because of the extra cooling and you can even go as far as water wetter. there is a fact or fiction section in modified that did this test and found you get better results with a turbo car rather a n/a car.

hood tilt?.. only cost would be some washers and your time

thanks guys, i dont like the hood tilted though. it just looks like a ghetto rigged mod to me. i wish i could find a vented hood that is somewhat subtle looking.

im seriously considering cutting my stock hood, but cant really decide how i want to do it...

why not an evo-style hood? i know they make them for your cars

and i agree. the vents on the S looks good.

the evo style hoods are hideous on an integra imo

i did manage to find a VIS cf vented hood that looks pretty nice, but cant find any pictures of it on an integra. and it costs a fortune of course.

as for a DIY vented hood... the webbing on the bottom of the dc hood doesnt have a nice symmetrical pattern to cut like the S2k does. but, i still might be able to make something look decent. we'll see...

wump wump.

my carbon trunk cost me 400 bucks, its authentic VIS, and used...

I had the same issue with horrible heat soak and occasionally id have a slight temp problem as well. I heat wrapped both my manifold, dumptube, and downpipe. Then i switched my slim fan back to a full size fan and all my temp problems seemed to go away.

IIRC, someone actually measured the temp difference from tilting the hood; and the result was more heat going above the motor and intake manifold getting hotter.

Probably best method would be an Evo-style hood vent/vent right above the manifold.

I think I'm going to heat wrap the shit out of everything. If that doesn't work, my hood is going to have some holes in it
