i felt nothing

news says it was a 5.8

one hit a few hours south of Denver last night too... 5.3 or something... heard about it when i got up this morning

I was at my station at NASA GSFC in Greenbelt, MD. we were just hanging out and we felt the floor bouncing a little (we are on the 2nd floor), and it felt almost like someone was jumping up and down, we were a bit confused. it slowed down then everything shook pretty hard for a few seconds, then died off again. total elapsed time about 30 seconds.

Mag 5.8, epicenter in Mineral, VA approx 100 miles from my location.

As essential personnel, i stayed to take my contact (it was over by then anyway). Non-essential personnel evacuated.

M5.9 – Virginia

I'm working in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD in a brand new (6 month old building.)
My building shook for approximately 30 seconds, I didn't feel it until I stepped out of my lab. Nothing but some change on my desk in the lab moved.

Unfortunately, they don't have a tiered evacuation yet in my building, so I had to gather up what wasn't in a safe and walk outside with it.

They're saying the Washington monument might now be tilting? Sounds like Uncle Sam needs a script for some little blue pills.

nothing felt here in central MA, however friends of mine on FB have reported feeling it in hartford CT, framingham/boston MA.

i feel so ashamed that east coasters are making a big deal over this weak shit :(

We feel it harder here on the east side of the nation since were on solid ground. Out in Cali where the ground is made of shit(!) (much like everything else out there) it isn't such a big deal.

it was a strange feeling, being the first earthquake ive ever experienced. this is news because its the biggest earthquake this area has ever had.

it amazes me how fast information travels these days. minutes after it happened, everyone knows the epicenter and magnitude. and you can get a scope of how far it was felt just by looking at facebook.

AND my facility just went code red. all non-essential personnel go home, lol.

but you, you're more in the middle.

Nah, Columbus is closer to the east than you'd think before you look at a map. The entire state is in the eastern most quarter, and Columbus probably falls near the border of the eastern most fifth. Especially if you cut out Maine, Vermont, and that other bullshit triangle state, oh yea, new hampshire. That's the one. :p
