Hey guys , got bored today and decided to make a oil catch can out of oem honda parts, all I used was a old a/c condenser, some hose, and the oem mounting bracket, it still needs a filter on the outlet side

Cleaned up the canister and the mounting bracket

Decided mounting location and cut the other side bracket off to fit

Mounted and good to go, its pretty hidden too

where do the lines go?
does this substitute a new place for the oil filter or no? bcuz the oil filter is impossible to get to an i was thinking of relocating mine to make oil changes easier.

This is a "Breather" type catch can the purpose of which is to catch oil mist caused by blow by in the crankcase. The line goes to the breather port on the valve cover.

It's not an active component in the pressurized oiling system. In some circles they are also referred to as "Burp Cans". More commonly used in high performance supercharged or turbocharged engines because they have higher explosion pressure in the cylinders and are more prone to "Blow By" around the piston rings, thus putting mpre pressure in the crankcase than normal, which pushes the oil mist out all over everything.

I never knew what was in those things. I always thought they had some kind of element in them or were some type of inline filter.

i always thought this was useful just because it would catch the actual liquid oil and let the fumes pass through?
 
There needs to be something inside the catch can to force the stream of fumes to come to a stop and reverse direction or its kind of pointless to have one.
Oil Catch Can Design
Not really - the link is just a "Better" catch can. It will work with no internal baffles also, just not as well. Gravity takes care of things in the case of a simple catch can.
