hey all,
long time reader/follower, first time poster. ill keep it short. i just purchased my first honda. 88 crx with a d16y7. the previous owner(who didnt do the swap), told me it "burns a little oil". looking at the bottom of the block/transmission, i see some oil residue. i attached a link to a picasa album with some pictures i took. has anyone seen this before, and if so, any chance i can get some advice? thanks in advance, and i apologize if this post should be posted elsewhere.

Looks to me like its leaking transmission fluid out of the axle seal. I'd pull the upper plug on the trans and see how much it takes. The seal itself will require disassembling the suspension on that side and pulling the axle. Not too tough if you have the tools.

thanks for the advice. gotta get tags/title before i can get it anywhere to work on it.

i've got brand new axles that came with it. just need to verify if they've got seals, or if i need to buy some. the suspension shouldn't be too much of an issue(been there, done that). pulling the axle will take some hondaswap search engine usage though.

the "burning oil" issue i mentioned(i quote the previous owner "i just add a half quart here and there between oil changes to keep it topped off") makes me think it might be a blown head gasket. any other gremlins i should search for while i have the had off, and the car up on a lift and access to tools, or in the mean time as it sits in my parking spot?

also, if further pictures would help narrow guidance, ill be glad to take, and post them.

thanks again.
