Turkish Baklava - Hands on Kitchen

Had some friends over for dinner last weekend and they brought us some Turkish baklava. Turns out the Greeks like to put their name on it but the Turks say its theirs.
Sounds like French Fries to me...

Our friends were kind enough to take pictures and do a little write up on it so onto the recipe!

Ingredients:
1 Package of Phyllo Dough, Thawed (get the thinnest)
4 Sticks of Melted Butter
2 Cups of Chopped Walnuts (you might want to crush them more at home)
3 Cups of Sugar
3 Cups of Water
2 Drops of Lemon Juice

It's a very simple recipe and it tasted great! Wasn't as powerful as some of the Greek baklavas I've had before. Not too overly sweet.

If you get bored, give it a try!

4 sticks of butter... its got to be delicious lol

Full sheet pan worth of baklava 4 sticks sounds like a lot.....

64 pieces total. Most people eat 1 or 2.

so 1/16th or 1/8th of a stick of butter is what you eat. People put more button on a tiny piece of toast.

Turks always try to take credit for things. I am pretty sure that baklava was created in ancient Iraq (assyria), not turkey or greece.

Why didn't they use honey?
