So,
Lately I've been having this problem with this family of raccoons in my backyard. They've been making a huge mess and pissing in my garage (bottom part of side door is broken).

So my wife had the idea to shoot them with a paint ball gun. I tried this last night and really got one of them good in the ass. It was actually a lot of fun...

Thoughts?

i definitely say fuck yeah! ive used a sling shot and ball bearings before, just to keep it quiet at night. i would say to just be careful you dont have some asshole PETA neighbor thats going to film you or something. im sure you could get in some sort of trouble if there was proof.

I was wondering what neighbors would think when they see pink spotted raccoons running around.

I just want to sting them a bit to make a point not to come into my yard. We shall see if these animals can learn.

Another pain is I need to hose down my backyard after shooting because I'm getting paint everywhere now...

Hell yeah. My room mates won't let me shoot the cats that come into our yard with a pellet gun, but they'll let me do it with an Airsoft gun.

Paintball gun would be quite a bit better. :D Has it been hopped up?

Being one who doesn't like to harm animals unless necessary, I see no problem with this. Even if you have to kill it, as long as you make it quick, I don't really see a problem with it. Just don't use your raccoon problem to test the probability of the last Saw movie you watched.

It has not been changed in any way. I really don't want to hurt them that bad.

I really don't want to kill them. I like animals too but they are becoming quite the nuisance. I really don't want to trap them either as it seems to be a family. I'm just trying to get them to learn to stay away.

freeze them.. it'll hurt a whole lot worse and they'll get the point then

Raccoons, like any animal, will only come around if they have a reason. Unlike humans, they don't just hang around a place because it looks cool or has pretty noises and lights. They are after FOOD and/or SHELTER.

Remove or remedy whatever you are providing them and your problem will go with it. Fix your door and keep your trash inside, etc. etc. etc.

I got an Etek 3 and I know the squirrels that used to be in my yard hated it. 20+bps you don't even need to hit them.

Shooting them with the paintball is just as bad as posting a video of you shooting it in the ass on youtube.
Fix you door and keep your garbage locked up.

I would shoot em and throw the bodies in the trash can they loved to spill all over the yard.

Problem solved. subsonic rounds in a .22LR always helped me with my coon problem.

Fix the garage door.
Clean up your trash/can area so they can't get in it.
problem solved.

Paintballs are huge to a raccoon, that would be like getting hit by a paintball the size of a tennis ball for us. Plus their bones are smaller/thinner, paintballs could break their bones without being frozen, let alone frozen.

If you turned the pressure way down I bet it'd work just as well, though... even if the paintballs didn't break on impact.
