Hi,

just thought id say hi to all the members. and also get some posts for my green horn status thing haha

i couldnt find any background info on this site, im guessing its a US based site?

anyways im from Australia, just bought a eg civic with a H22A motor and lsd 5 speed box all up and running, hauls ass and couldnt be happier...!

i have a few questions that i will be posting up and hop this is the site that can answer them, im typically on supraforums as i also have a blown supra and a few other cars, but have always wanted a big motor NA civic - am now thinking of selling the supra and putting some cash into the civic lol

Welcome to Hondaswap!

Yup, US based- but most of the info you want on the car will be the same worldwide.

what year supra?

i wouldn't spend too much building a full N/A h22. maybe if you are drag racing a certain class. other than that, most N/A racers go with a b18. if you are doing straight, 1/4 mile, just turbo it.

supra is a 94 RZ, fully built auto, GT4088 etc etc etc etc...

i was going to make some threads inquiring about the h22a's as i havent seen many of them in civics, you guys usually do the b18 or k20 etc, why is it that not many people use the h22a? and factory weakness's? why do u suggest not spending on the h22a? i really dont want to turbo it, ive had a stack of built turbo cars in my time and am actually liking the simplicity of the NA vtec.

i prob wont open up the NA motor though, intake mani/tb maybe itb's, my civic already has obviously the h22a, full exhaust with headers, short ram intake pipe (which i will prob put down under the guard for cooler air) bigger fuel pump, fpr, EMS full stand alone ecu and EMS external igniter, bigger bosch coil, 10.2mm leads and has run 13.9secs, id be happy with a low 13 high 12 which im sure is doable with the stock internals and stock lsd 5 speed box?

Actually, the H22 is getting REALLY popular. It's easy to put in, especially if you mate it to a D or B transmission, and there are tons of mods available for it as well. If you don't want to dig around inside the block, it's definitely the cheapest engine to use for a Civic to get big power numbers.

there is nothing wrong with the H, just wasn't sure what your plans for it were.

since you are drag racing, i would highly suggest traction bars, good tires, and some cams. you can skip the throttle body, intake manifold and just about anything ignition related. honda ignitions kick ass. same with fuel. i would work on also getting a full custom tune after you finish your mods. you should be able to get high 12's very easily.

not sure what the D or B transmissions are? i run the prelude h22a lsd center 5 speed..

and yeah i always thought the h22a was like the big block of the 4cyl world lol

any good sites for traction bars? and anti lift setup for the front?

yes cams were on the list i forgot, was also thinking some bigger valves maybe? prob not worth the effort though

so i wont need to change injectors?

Actually, throttle body and intake manifold are probably good upgrades to do.

only issue i had was when i read this on skunks website:

"Not directly compatible used in Civic or Integra chassis; clearance modifications are required.

Not compatible with all engine swaps."

any other companies that do intake manis? id go itb's but if i end up going turbo the itbs would be useless

is there a thread with sites that sell performance gear?

He's talking about the transmissions that go with the D and B-series motors (D16, B16, B18, etc.). Those transmissions are bolt-in in Civics, and now they have adaptor plates that will attach those transmissions to an H22, so you no longer have to make any modifications to the chassis to fit the H22 tranny.

If you've already got the H22 tranny in there though, then just stuck with that...

For small Hondas, yeah. The only thing better would be a K24, but that's a significantly more expensive swap...

i have practically the same thing as you..jdm h22 swap with full exhuast, intake, msd ignition, aem fuel rail..im loving it so far i just got mine a maybe a month or two ago and its a blast...very quick for a n/a 4 cylinder...im even beating wrx's n other turbo cars...although they r mostly stock still they have a turbo i dont =)

have you had yours on a dyno?

what ecu?

i never got it dynoed i jus got it a couple months ago and dont plan on doing any big mods till after end of winter.
when i got it it was running off a p75 but was running really rich and had idle problems. I jus got a p28 off my buddy that was tuned at speed innovations that he was running off his prelude. I can feel a huge differnece with this tuned ecu pulls alot harder in 3rd gear. I gained about 2 car lenghts with this ecu.
