My girlfriend Has just purchased a Prelude with the h22a Vtec.
my knowledge with these...tedious creations of rice are extremely limited.
:(So I ask,
Getting the car 2nd hand of a young..so and so, What steps should i take to be sure she is driving safe and also driving with the cars peak performance and handling.

Blows a little black smoke when it takes off sometimes,
Bodykit need reinforcement urgently.
disconnected speedo, taco replaced with incorrectly calibrated gauges.

4ws diagnostic information if anybody knows anything, she just dont work!
Unknown engine wine...at around 3500 to 4000 revs, very VERY high pitch metal on metal sounding screech...maybe preowners error, possibly a known fault on model?

That metal screeching sound from the motor doesn't sound like any known issue that I'm aware of with the H22. The motor's probably about to blow up.

I hope she didn't pay much for this thing. Sounds like she bought somebody else's mess...

High pitch metal on metal is prob worn brake pads..

Do a full service on the engine and gearbox, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, leads etc etc

Black smoke sounds like fuel, prob from old spark plugs

Whine is prob from gearbox, rev the car in neutral and see if it makes the noise, new oil in the gearbox will prob fix it, add a tube of friction modifier too x70 nulon
