So any of you cats playing Skyrim these days? The better half rented a copy from Redbox for me last night. Yeah big mistake on her part. With any luck ill be picking up a copy this weekend. So far I really dig it. The quest layout is much better than Morrowind. I didnt play much of Oblivian. But in Morrowind I never knew exactly what the hell I was doing. The Magic setup seems to be way way better now too. I actually use spells now. Anyway, just wanted to see what people thought about it.

Im not one for RPG's that dont go boom. But my friend got it at midnight when it came out so I watched a bit of game play. Looked pretty cool. Maybe something I'd play if there werent so many games out now that I'd play more.

Skyrim is one of the better games I've ever played. It's friggin addicting too.

I've racked up around 30 hours of game play and it's all from doing non main game related stuff. I think I've done maybe 5 main game quest. Currently level 27, with 100 smithing and around 70 dual handed. I can't wait to play it again. I'm always looking forward to playing.

I feel like Skyrim is the result of the experience they gained through making Fallout 3. Oblivion had a very obtuse user interface and stat system, and annoying leveling mechanics. From what I understand, Skyrim has almost none of the things people usually mod out of Oblivion.

I'm hoping to pick it up sooner than later.

I think this is a spot on assessment. It has all the good from Fallout but smothed out.

That's good to hear. I loved Fallout 3 and New Vegas but couldn't ever get in to Oblivion much. And I think that's why, the leveling was such a grind and the menu/stats system was not the most user-friendly thing ever.

I heard that they have the stylized slo-mo executions like in Fallout also?

Fortunately I am playing Oblivion on PC, so I can take advantage of the community-generated patches, UI changes, and the console to ease the leveling process. There's enough to do in the game that I don't feel cheesing the leveling system detracts from it overall.

well i'm really trying hard to like this game just because it is graphically astounding. i really feel diablo ruined US RPGs for me.

I much prefer something like Elder Scrolls to turn-based stuff. I played WoW for about a month and gave up because the combat bored me to death...

Yup it sure does. It happens randomly. It weirded me out for a half second the first time it happened. Pretty cool to see with melee weapons. A lot better than just a slow mo head shot.

Nothing like a slow mo of me cutting some woman's head off.

right. i was hoping there was a demo available... but there isnt. i think im going to pass for the right now.

If you have a redbox near by rent it for the two dollars a day. Thats how i plan on demoing games now

Too late. Boss said happy birthday and bam! I had my own copy. Btw happy birthday to me... On the 26th
