Friend moved out of the province, selling his car he had no time to finish. Apparently has a b17 ported/polished, etc. Very clean inside. I;m looking at something different and since my b18c is burning more and more oil monthly. I was looking into rebuilding this b17 a bit over the summer.

I was looking into using my obd2 GSR head / tranny And use the b17 block. I know i would lose small amount of torque and such, but i'm not into racing my car at the track, just have a nice clean daily thats reliable.

And input with this would be great. I can't find info with 1.8l heads on a b17 block.

if you are saying the b17 already has a port/polished head, then why swap your b18c head on there? the difference between the two is minimal, but like glassheadlights said, i think the gsr head will raise compression slightly. on the other hand, if the b17 truly has been worked, then im willing to bet the head was decked and the CR might be higher than stock on it as well.

Yeah i'm going to take a look at it tomorrow morning and see what the motor is all about. Hoping to find more information about it. If the head is fine and block is clean, i will grab it and just keep it as a spare, work on it over time. Have a nice rare motor to play with.

And yes im freezing my ass off in ontario. Thanks for reminding me lol.

Went to go see this car, actually very suprised at the shape of the motor and how clean everything was. Megan headers, full megnaflow exhaust (not a cannon) new rad. Minus the cobwebs in the engine bay. Looks good. Hes asking 500$ for the whole car..

None yet, just been held up working.

This weekend i plan on getting it going.
His dad told me he brought it to a friend mechanic. Took the head off, Inspected the inside, No play, grime or anything out of the ordinary, and very clean. They replace the h.g and timing belt when it was off. Car ran at the time, but needs a new battery. So i need to find one for the weekend to use. Car didn't smoke at the time of being drivin, or burn oil at the time.

I ended up getting it for cheaper today. Going to run a comp test on it this weekend hopefully and get everything i need out of the car. And scrap the shell, If everything turns out bad, i can always sell for parts, and make my money back.

- Question - What would be the best ECU for this motor, If i plan to put it in my vehicle at a later time?

Your best bet would be a chipped P28 or similar then tune it for the high comp. I just noticed there's a Type R intake mani on that motor. For less than $500 I'd say that is a great deal. :)

didn;t even notice the type r intake mani, good eye.

Yeah id have to buy a chipped p28 somewhere online, Closest tuning is in minnesota, which 8 hours away is a long drive in this weather
I have a obd1 p72 ecu for my gsr atm, but heard i can't chip them.. ?

I have no idea. Id look for a P06 ECU too cause they can be converted to vtec and chipped. I'm running one on an OBD1 B16 right now.

EDIT: Shoulnt there be an ecu in that car already if it runs?

yeah stupid me, i haven't checked yet lol. im going by tomorrow to take a look, Didn't cross my mind at the time lol

Been busy with work haven't got the car yet, wondering since the b17 has a cable tranny, would my Gsr trans bolt up with out any mods?

yeah the cable and hydro trannys are interchangeable, but the clutches have to go with them. the spline count is different.

found out info on the motor

stock p61 ecu, forged pistons, type r cams, titanium valves/retainers ported and polished head, shot peaned rods.

So for $450 for a full car, I say I got a good deal lol.
