Just reading an article on Subaru's new car. I love the lines, but I am not sure what to make of everything else. Naturally aspirated it sounds like, which surprises me a bit, especially for a sports car. 0-60 in 6 with the 6 speed manual.. meh.

Thoughts?

I like the styling, but it sucks that there are no plans for a turbo version. I wonder how easy an sti swap will be? 0-60 in 6 seconds is pretty decent at the pricepoint.

there is much more to driving than 0-60

i think its just about a home run
small (about 6 inches longer than a miata)
low
low center of gravity
good weight distribution
reasonable power
excellent looks
beautiful interior

they went against most of the current trends in the auto world and i think they made a great move by doing so

And here I was, just about to post "It looks like a Genesis".

Humph.

I wasn't necessarily saying the 0-60 time is bad, it just surprised me I guess because the last generation of WRXs did better than that.

I wouldnt. Other than general shape its completely different. I think the Veloster/Genesis is the best comparison.

Also on that "different than current trends" note, this car too has that dumb shit fugly black bar in its grill that Audi, Mitsubishi, now even Dodge, and Im sure countless others have (albeit not centered on the Subi). I hope that stupid ass trend dies soon.

Those comparison graphics are pretty sweet.

As for 0-60 in "only" 6 seconds... the S2000 was rated at 0-60 in 5.9, and it's all kinds of crazy fun to drive. Considering that the BRZ/GT86/FR-S is 100 pounds lighter with the same amount of torque, it should be a blast. It's practically the exact same length as my S2000 (4 inches longer, 5 inch longer wheelbase) and the engineers seem to have taken a lot of the same design targets into consideration (shove the engine as far back and as low as possible), it'll be damn fun to drive.

I really want to buy one as soon as they come out just to start developing parts for it. We won't have the budget to do that though. :(

I love that the roofline and most everything else (other than bumpers of course) lines up nearly perfect to the genesis.

I think it's pretty cool. And it got me thinking about Honda's lack of sports car..... they should bring the RSX back, but it should be FR with a 3.5L V6; that would be freakin sweet

Everything is shit until they bring back pop-up headlights.

torsen diff is kinda meh but better than open diff i guess.

I think it's underpowered for it's weight at 2689lbs. I'd like to see it in the 250 area.

I'm pretty certain if I had to choose a car in this price range I'd get a bangin Veloster with the glass sunroof. Or wait for the turbo.
