her name is jellybean(previous owners choice),american pit bull terrier, she is supposedly 11mnths old,has all her shots and dewormed...ive always been into this breed of dog,so now that im finally out of my moms house and into my own apartment i decided to get one.she will get plenty of attention asi have night classes and my gf has morning classes,so she will always have company..any thoughts or suggestions?

ah but theres a differance,i am not doing this because she is meant to be a symbol of toughness.i am doing this because this is my favorite breed of dog.she is very loyal, very smart, and is going to be like a daughter, which is going to further help me gain responsibility.

Don't let her drag you around on the leash.......always drives me nuts when I see a pit bull doing that

I had a friend that said "it's the breed" and I had the dog walking with slack in the leash within a few minutes.

nope, she does not pull at all.she stays right by your side,if you stop she will stop, once you stand still for awhile she will walk until the leash stops and just sniff around(we have the retractable type that allows them to go up to like 10 feet away)

If I had a dime every time I heard this.

The only person I've met with a real dog in the past 10 years is George77777. Murphy is king.

Trying to make yourself seem masculine?

Pit bulls may make you appear masculine because of all the stereotypes, but when raised right they are teddy bears, even a little skiddish. They really are great dogs. They don't top my list, but they're up there.

Congrats..... I remember u saying how bad u wanted one... you plan on working her or is she strictly a pet?
check out www.gopitbull.com either way.. lots of good info for u

what do you mean by working her??
and to show how "ridiculous" she is.were laying in bed lst night rubbing her belly,we stop she looks back and starts whining, would not stop until we started rubbing her again.

so bed time comes i made up a little bed on the floor just made of a blanket, got her laid down went into my bed,10 seconds later, shes climbing into my bed.
shes a huge baby.

Any dog has their issues. It's up to the owner to put in work.

Pitbulls have a stigma based on the fact that the majority of them are owned by non educated dog owners. So many of them get out or are abandoned. And the pound is riddled with them. Same thing can be said about chihuahuas (they obviously have different issues) which has led to me hating chihuahuas and their constant neurotic nature and barking/growling at people when they are in someone's lap. And then the owner coddles them to make them stop but they are very much perpetuating the whole effing situation.

A good friend would show pits (he passed away).....well they were called staffshire terrors and they were big babies who starve for love and attention. But they also can get mad at one another and they've locked up on each others face. I busted them apart with a hose lol.

.

basically any strenuous activity... american pit bull terriers are generally high drive dogs, how do u plan on draining that energy living in an apartment?

my girlfriend plays with her alot.the one thing we dont get is she doesnt like to play with toys.no tennis balls,no chew toys or anything.

I agree with eg6sir

Most dogs need to be worked or they wil either tear stuff up or get fat or both lol

tennis balls are a no-no .. something about the fibers covering them

ahok.ditching the tennis ball.but either way we have a tug rope and a couple little squeek toys.she wont touch em.

Walk the dog a lot. My boston terrier is very high energy and walking helps him get it out.

Also when the dog whines to get its way and you cave it makes the habit worse.
