The trans went out in my Dodge Grand Caravan a couple months ago. I was just going to source out another trans and throw it in but I decided the wifey needed a new ride. So I picked this up for her for Christmas...

2012 Mercedes-Benz GLK 4MATIC

GLK.jpg

Being a Mercedes-Benz employee, I got an awesome deal on the actual cost of this vehicle, plus the best rate possible and 0 down through Mercedes-Benz Financial. What I will be paying for this a month, is equivalent to what the average person with Teir 1 credit would pay a month for a base model Jetta  :D

This vehicle isn't fully loaded though. Just Premium 1 package, heated seats, and multi media package with navigation.

My oh my am I getting some good deeds for the next few weeks :D Unless the happiness wears off sooner lol.

Nice. Motor specs? :hungry:

I see those commercials where someone gets a brand new car for XMAS and I call horse shit but it obviously happens

Congrats. It will get you some good favors for sure

I hope I get those favors soon lol.

As far as specs go, it's got a 3.5L V6, 268hp, 258 ft lbs torque, 7 speed auto w/ Touch Shift manual mode. 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. It's got some decent pep to it.

u giving it to her beforehand, or keeping it hidden at work till Christmas?
I gave it to her (about an hour ago) I was going to hold off till Christmas but we needed the car since our van shit the bed. I could have waited since I didn't anticipate it's arrival so early but it's all good.

She knew she was going to get a new car but she wasn't expecting anything until February (tax returns :) ) But MB gave me an offer I couldn't refuse so I ordered this vehicle as a Christmas gift. It had an ETA of Dec. 21-23.

Well, it ended up arriving today. I did the PDI on it (yup, I even got paid to PDI my own vehicle :) ) After I PDI'd it, I asked the clean up crew if they could hook me up with a Simoniz ( http://www.simonizusa.com/Business/Content/AutoMotoDealers.asp ) It wasn't supposed to be done till tomorrow but they were able to get mine finished so I just decided to go ahead and take it home to her.

Oh and the Simonize is good shit. It's normally like $800 but I got it for the cost of 3 large pizzas lol. They don't know it yet but i'm gonna buy them lunch again on Monday. They took care of me fast so I gotta hook'em up just as good...

I really like the GLKs. I have a friend who has an '00 ML430. I know he's had a bit of trouble with it, but I hope this treats you well.

You went from a Dodge Caravan to a $46,000(our cost) Mercedes SUV lol, nice. Curious cause a base Jetta would be like $17,000. MB knocked off $29,000 of that SUV with those packages?

what he's saying is, is that his payment will be like paying on a Jetta

Extremely good call. Those are fucking super-solid platforms.

Those still use the 272 engine though, right? Better hope that P0015 comes while you've still got warranty :)

yeah im just curious what that is, like what kind of deals they get....is it like $250 a month for 72 months? Regardless that's a hell of a nice upgrade
Quoting the Jetta was misleading. Sorry. I didn't realize the Jetta's were that cheap lol. The finance guy said "your payments are typical for a "$22,000 vehicle being financed @ zero down with Teir 1 credit" I thought the Jettas started at or around that price lol. oops... My payments are no where near that lol. I'm leasing this vehicle BTW... That's partly the reason my payments are that low. The price they built the lease around was/is dealer invoice price minus any money back incentives they are giving the general public, and also minus cash back Mercedes-Benz is giving to employees for leasing a vehicle. I forgot what the term is for the "apr" on a lease but I know mine is super low. It's like .00001% (not exaggerating)

Yeah. I was hoping for the new 276 :(

P0015? That's a SAE code. I'm used to seeing our manufacturer codes. Does P0015 come up as Cam Solenoids? If so, no worries... I got 3 extras in my tool box lol The car is just a lease so will be under warranty the entire time I got it :)

Those 163 ML's are such shit. I should have taken a picture earlier today of my bays and my shop foreman's bays. I was working on 3 of them while he had 2 of his own to work on lol. If I was a client looking into the shop I would vow to NEVER buy a 163 ML lol. Has he recently done his newest Brake Switch recall? I've been doing them like hotcakes lol. At least 2 a day...

0015 is one of the death codes for the balance shaft
FWIW, I've got about 15 solenoids sitting around, and two balance shaft kits

Ah, I see... I'm just used to seeing our codes.

The balance shaft problems in the 272 and idler gear problems in the 273 have pretty much run their course. I believe all the 272's and 273's assembled after 9/2007 have the updated balance shaft and idler gears in them. That date may be off a bit though...

He's still on cylinder 7 misfire, its his dads car, which he's only driving while his 240D is in the shop. He actually prefers driving the W123 over the ML. And we've tried to get his dad to take the ML in, and I told him I would change the coil pack on that cylinder, he didn't seem too interested.

I've got a 163 ML and can confirm they are piles of shit. I love the crank sensor that goes out and leaves you stranded and is a MOTHER FUCKER to replace. Especially on the V8. My buddies V6 wasn't as bad to get to.

I haven't done the recall yet, will this fix all 3 traction lights from coming up on my dash?

Which crank sensor is a motherfucker to replace??? V6 or V8 regardless, doesn't take but two minutes or less...pop off the air cleaner, lean over the engine, stick your hand down there with an E8, pop it out, unplug, plug in new sensor, pop back in, tighten bolt, slap air cleaner back on.

on 273's, 70% of the time just replacing the magnet that corresponds to whichever camshaft is off will fix it. I think I've done MAYBE seven idle gears, and out of those only one of them actually needed it.

As far as all the 272's after 9/07 having the 'updated' balance shaft gears...that's simply not true. I see at least one car every other week that needs a balance shaft, literally. Very likely just not being brought to the dealer. I know here in Houston, I get multiple cars on a regular basis that have been misdiagnosed by the dealers here, and not a lot of people have much faith in the MB/BMW dealerships here - for the most part, they're fucking idiots. I had a GL that a dealer tech had cut the steering boot open with a razor blade to 'check and see if the rack was leaking internally', in order to diagnose a power steering leak that was coming from a reservoir which was cracked literally in half.

Not that I mind, those idiots at the dealerships keep my bills paid.

Anyways, I've seen firsthand, and replaced balance shafts myself, in up to 2010's. Haven't seen an 11 with that issue, but most of those are probably still under fucktory warranty, so they won't make it here until 4 sets of magnets have been replaced and they're out by mileage.

Solid diesel engines in those 240D's...

I agree on the crank sensor. I got short-fat arms and it's a bitch to get back there. But now I just use a E8 swivel socket with a long ass extension. You can get to the bolt if you slide the socket starting from the master cylinder area. Takes me about 10 minutes from start to finish.

Are you experiencing cruise control problems as well? If so, then yeah, the new brake switch will more than likely get rid of your esp/bas light. If not, you may have some other issue(s).

Got another 163 today... seized motor...

I was wrong on my dates. I printed these sheets at work. According to MB (see photos below... IDK why they are so big lol) they installed the updated parts in the 272 starting in 8/2006 and the 273 starting in 9/2006.

Below is what we have to follow for balance shafts and idler gears. They show our DTC's and they also include the Generic DTC's. The generic DTC's they mention are P0016 and P0017. They don't mention P0015. You've been changing idler gears and balance shafts for P0015? If so, you've been doing them for the wrong code lol. No wonder you've seen them in models after 2006 lol. I've only done 2 balance shafts and I was curious as to what years they were. I looked up the history in ADP and they were both 06's. A 211 and a 251. I asked my shop foreman and he says he doesn't remember doing any that weren't 06's. According to him, he is positive he has never had to do one in an 08 and up. So IDK what is up with the vehicles you're seeing :shrug2: I am more curious now about this now. When I go to training at the end of January, i'll see what year vehicles most of the guys have been having this problem on.
