We decided because of trying to save for a house we wanted to go under $5,000 for the honeymoon.

We choose Secrets Maroma Beach, Mexico. This will be my second vacation out of the country(went to Dominican in Sept).

This hotel is #1 out of 186 hotels based on tripadvisor.com.
7 nights all inclusive in a jr suite ocean view preferred club with airfare, airport transfers taxes and fees -----$3308

Pretty excited, I can't believe it's taken me this long to go to Mexico!

probably could have just done miami for the same experience for half the price
congrats man, i hope you have fun.
whatever you do, don't pay a local to rent his golf cart and then go driving down dirt roads away from town

Give you $1000 bucks if you could convince my fiance to go to Miami for a honeymoon

If it was up to me, i wouldn't even go on a honeymoon..I would save the money for down payment for a house. And im 100% serious.

When I got married, we spent under $500 on our honeymoon. Sure the argument could be made that the memories are worth more than that, but let's get real here, that's the kind of thinking that got us where we are today as a nation.

Preferred club is great. We went to a NOW resort in September and it really buys you a completely different level of service and amenity. It was great. The food rated really highly at our resort and it still sucked. If they had just cooked all the local specialties with fresh ingredients it would have been amazing but instead they try to serve their interpretation of American cuisine and it is a poor interpretation at best (which is ironic considering that parent company is American).

Also, we learned pretty quickly to be very specific about what you want in your drinks. IF you see a bottle of Absolut sont ask for a vodka/tonic...ask for Absolut/tonic and be prepared to have to teach them how to make pretty basic cocktails. I spent nine days ordering whiskey and baileys and I had to explain it over again to every bartender. They couldnt understand why I would want to mix those two things...

i dont understand it either
never heard of someone drinking whisky and baileys.
put that on my list to try if i ever pick it up again

Baileys already has irish whiskey in it so it's kind of doubling up on the whiskey side. I tried it last night, it's not too bad.

Seriously? It's a pretty standard Irish bar preparation...Jamie and Bailey's...1 shot of each over rocks...fuckin delicious
