so im gonna trade or sell my truck to get a car my options are:
1998-2002
Firebird
Trans Am
Camaro
Camaro

It will be a V8 and 6 speed if its one of these

possibly S2000 or STI

open to other ideas also (no mustangs or ford products lol)

i still have my 90 hatch and plannin to build this year for 600whp

my idea is to get something along these lines i can enjoy as a DD until it's paid off then trade it in for my dream car... MKIV Supra

gah Im torn between the T/A and SS. Both are nasty, but I voted SS because T/As are usually a lot more expensive.

from the looks of what you want, have you considered a 97-99 Corvette?

I'd also consider something more 'comfy' and less 'mullet' for daily driver purposes. Those f-bodys never did it for me. 140 hp v8's are awesome. lol

I loved my S2K for daily driving. Good seats, enough power to keep me happy. Smooth transmission and a reasonable clutch. Only had one mechanical issue in 3 years, and that was fixed by a 50c piece of tubing and a water bottle (clutch was sticking). If you do go this route though, look for something newer than 2003. That plastic rear window sucks in the older ones. I like the 2.0L better than the 2.2, so might look specifically for 2003 models if you like the more revhappy engine.

I don't find the F-body cars comfortable in the slightest, and the TA is all kinda of uncomfortable to drive because of the way the driver's seat sits and the length/height of the hood. I'd assume the camaro has the same issue, but since I've never driven a late 90s camaro I couldn't tell ya.

Have you people ever sat in or even better driven a 98+ f body? They aren't uncomfortable at all. They have very supportive seats and if you can't get past the hood length "issue" you don't belong in a sports car. My 91' had a longer one and I hot used to it when I was 15. Can't be too bad for any other driver. Isn't the S2000 hood nearly as long? Oh, and its more like 300hp V8. ;) And even better, you actually get some usable torque!

The hood is nearly as long, but your head is above the bottom of the windshield if you're over 5'6. In a TA your head is below the bottom of the windshield until you hit about 6'3. Since that's the case you can reasonably and accurately gauge the length of the hood in the s2k. in the ta, not so much.

yeah most v8 gas is horrible but you would be surprised that most vettes get 30 mpg

out of the choices listed i would pick an S2000, but for what it sounds like you are going to use it for, you might should consider other options. it seems you want something sporty and quick, but comfortable. and whats the budget? im guessing in the $10-12k area?

Im 5'9" and I had no problems. I'm not below the windshield but I will admit it is higher than most people are used to. When I bought my Camaro at 14yrs old the first thing my dad did was stand in front of it and try to make sure I understood how much I wasnt seeing. I found a good reference point on it that day and always took note of It. Never once hit anything with the nose since. Spend any time in it and you get used to it. Also adjusting your seat properly and not riding around with a "gangsta lean" does wonders for visibility.

To settle for a lesser car like the S2000 (yea, I just said that) over such a small thing is stupid imo. Obviously im biased but with the choices given I think fbodys are the best. Even the STi is a better choice especially considering how much snow he'll see.

Another thing, even though they arent the most roomy back seats around at least you get them in the fbody. I'm no small guy and I've sat in them. Getting out is worse,
but again, they're nice to have.
ehhhh...hope you meant GTO.....G6 is garbage
Probably meant the G8 GT but that's not in the same price range anyway. GTOs were ugly but had an amazing drivetrain.

Only reason I mentioned it is because I really wanted a TA when I was younger and a buddy of mine let me take his car while he was gone for 3 months. I drove it about a dozen times in that time and not once did I feel comfortable behind the wheel. In my s2k i was having a blast day one.

Im also a previous 4G prelude owner and they have the same 'below the windshield' feeling that a TA has but that hood is just REALLY tall.

Also, IIRC the OP lives in central texas the likely hood of snow that really matters is kinda low. The foot and a half dallas got 2 years ago was 4 times what I've ever seen living in dallas for 20 years.
