i just have a questions lets say if i build my engine from bottom to top if i get 81mm low comp pistons that means i have to bore out it 81mm right? i have a b18b1 engine also this is what i might get Arias Honda/Acura B Series 81mm Low Comp. Pistons [B Series] : Golden Eagle Manufacturing

im just getting infomation i have some mech background so anyone have any information please let me know i know its probley been covered but i just want to make sure because i cant find it nor do i understand
 
anyone want to share some info im pretty sure im right but i just like to be 100% sure and also how do i know the stock block size:)
 
The stock bore on a B18B1 is 81mm.

Also, why are you getting low compression pistons? Stock compression on a B18B1 is already fairly low.
 
if i want to build a motor and get it ready for boost i thought i had to have low compression if not what is a good size to bore it out too?

You don't need to lower the compression. Stock compression is fine. If you lower it too much, your car will be a complete turd unless you're in boost.

Keep the stock compression, and bore. That way if you somehow manage to blow it up, you have room to bore out the cylinders without having to re-sleeve the engine.
 
i am going to boost it i heard it was good to have low compression with boost but i dont want to leave it stock if it blows up i dont want to re fix it i want it done right the first time so i dont have to go back again

That's somewhat of a misnomer. The LS you currently have has a static compression ratio (9.0:1) that is perfect for a turbocharger. Keep the stock compression, and stock bore. Put some aftermarket pistons and rods in it and call it good.

so basiclly just rebuild the head with pistons and rods and i can boost it how much HP will i get out of this will it be determine by a good tune or is there a set HP

Rebuild the bottom end with forged pistons and rods, new OEM seals, bearings, etc. to be sure that you won't encounter problems down the road. After you do this, you'll have a bottom end that can support 350whp, that I can say for sure.

There is no set HP for any set of mods. The power you make is VERY dependent upon the tune, and your setup. 10psi on a small turbo is a very different scenario than 10psi on a very large turbo.

thanks so much for the info right now im driving on a B18b1 engine and i also have a b18b1 engine in my room that im going to build what steps can i take to make sure this engine i have sitting around is even good enough or going to work at all the person i bought it from said it worked but you know people
 
A machine shop can inspect it for you to be sure that it doesn't have a cracked sleeve, that the deck is flat, and that they can also find and fix any threads in the engine block that may have been stripped/ruined by the previous owner(s). I'd start by taking it to a machine shop and paying them to check it out. It's worth the piece of mind. :thumbsup:

A machine shop can inspect it for you to be sure that it doesn't have a cracked sleeve, that the deck is flat, and that they can also find and fix any threads in the engine block that may have been stripped/ruined by the previous owner(s). yes i will little low on cash waiting for taxes also im having trouble taking off the head bolts that connect the head to the block they are stripped the head not the thread and i dont know what else to do to take it off
 
The only thing you can do is try to get a different socket on there, or else you're probably going to have to get a shop to get them out.
 
ill try to go to a smaller socket but this blows :-( just waiting for my engine stand so its not sitting on the floor
 
Yeah, stripped bolts are never a fun experience. I have never had the tops of the head bolts round off before though, sounds like maybe the wrong size socket was used on them at one point.
