Well I picked up a gsr a couple weeks ago, so the eg has been sitting outside in my parking stall in -40 weather for over a week. Sold it yesterday, the guy went and put fuel in it then popped over to a pizza shop around the corner. When he went to leave, the car wouldnt start. I can garuntee this guy sat on the starter for 20 mins and more then ten seconds at a time. I figured he flooded it.

This engine has over 400000kms on it. I pulled the plugs and all four are soaked, and i mean fucking soaked in oil. And I dont think is from the vc tube seals. Almost seems like the whole cyl is filled with oil. Anyone ever have this before? Car turns over fine, has spark (plus brand new plugs), I almost positive it has fuel. I daily drove this car, never had problems with it, but it burned oil like a mofo.

Thanks,

Guy

Could be a bad intake manifold gasket that went to crap in the tuff weather... One way I could see oil getting in, or the piston rings went to hell and it is getting passed them onto the cylinders... but all of them... makes me iffy

buy a valve cover gasket kit should come with valve cover gasket plus gaskets to fit the spark plus wire holes thats what i did with my eg and everything is fine now.

That would only protect the the top of his spark plugs... I beleive he is talking about the bottom of them :)

now reading it again with the cyl being full of oil.. mite be the valve guilds... just another idea

That and it's got 400k km on it - probably just a tired engine ready for overhaul.

Not suggesting to crap the thread, but that's a lot of miles and with the symptoms - heavily oiled down plugs on all 4 cylinders. Sitting there not running I would suspect the valve seals are wasted.

OP claimed it burned oil like a MF. I had a D16A6 in my hatch that was going away, so I put a rebuilt head on it for one more emissions test before doing a complete swap. It ran a month or two after the rebuilt head, passed emissions barely with some acetone in the gas tank. Anyway, it went south, likely the rings, assuming the head was a good rebuild and when I pulled it a year later was burning a full quart of oil every 100 miles. When coasting, I'd push the clutch in otherwise it smoked like a mosquito fogger when opening the throttle again.

Mosquito fogger... love that quote bet it worked well for that... Hey go start up the civic, it will scare away the bugs

Scare 'em away? Hell no, it would kill 'em all and any poor unfortunate SOB that was behind me!!!
