How would you know if he needed a new timing belt? You would probably need to know how many miles are on the car, if the timing belt shows any signs of wear, etc. Next time you ask a question, provide all of the information.

Yes, you probably should. That's an interference motor, so if the timing belt breaks while the engine is running, you could be looking at bent valves. As for when to change it, folllow the factory maintenance schedule. Typically it's around every 90,000 miles...
