So i'm in the market for a 40"-46" LCD TV. Has to be LCD because the room it's going in will have quite a bit of natural light.

I'm not real anal like some of you guys when it comes to picture quality so a high end name brand isn't a must for me lol. I need the picture to just look good, not great.

There any TV's you guys would recommend in the $400-$500 range?

Our second tv is a 42" Dynex lcd that we got "free" with a furniture purchase. It's got 3 or 4 hdmi inputs on it and displays a pretty good HD picture for tv viewing and my son's xbox 360 on it. Not sure what the $ would be in store but I'm sure it would fall in your range. I would say Insignia as well, which is another BB store brand. I believe Westinghouse is actually a Sony made tv.

I'll look into those... thanks.

Do you watch netflix? it may be nice to spend a few bucks more and get a wifi ready tv with apps.

I now use Netflix for only DVD's. We went through all the stuff that's available for streaming already. Netflix does a terrible job of releasing newer stuff for streaming. I understand that it takes money for the licensing and shit to stream movies but it still sucks donkey dick...

Cal, I actually saw that at Target today... If they still have that deal at Target or online when I get back home from Chicago on Thursday, I'm gonna jump on that TV...

Damn that's a good deal. If there is a fry's around, they have incredible prices. I have got a couple tv's from there.

when i get my income tax im headed to walmart...theres a 50" there for a littleless than $600
has 2 a/v inputs, and some other stuff.not the best but def. not the worst.

Nice Internet ready 42" Vizio from tigerdirect for $450..don't let refurbished scare you..has same warranty as new

Vizio E422VA 42 Class LCD HDTV - 1080p, 1920 x 1080, 60Hz, 5ms, 50000:1, Vizo Internet Apps, Wi-Fi, (Refurbished) at TigerDirect.com
Refurb doesn't scare me at all :) my current blu ray player is a Philips refurb unit. Works great.
Doubtful- the good deals are usually gone in a day.
Positive attitude would be best Cal :( lol

Well, the deals that get me excited at Fry's I usually duck out of work to get before the lunch rush- after that they're all gone. My TV was bought on a 4 hour sale in November 2010 that had no advertisement notification... and then didn't drop below the price I paid until 4 months after Black Friday.

:shrug2:

Lol damn, 4 hour sale...

Best Buy has that same 55" Westinghouse for $580! I tried to purchase online/from my phone but it says they are no longer shipping them to my local store :-(

Was at best buy looking at 42" TVs the other day (they're on the way to the bathroom lol), a decent RCA/Panasonic 42" LCD is 350 now a days. Four years ago I spent 900 on my 42" plasma that was on sale from 1200. Kinda wish I'd waited, but I'm glad to know that I could replace this one cheaply if I needed to.

Anyway, as I said, I've had this Panasonic for four years and haven't had any issues with it at all. If you're not ridiculously anal, LG has a decent picture quality as well.

Thanks for the suggestions guys...

I ended up pulling the trigger on this a few hours ago... Dynex™ - 46" Class / LCD / 1080p / 60Hz / HDTV - DX-46L262A12

They had a new one but I opted for the Open Box item to save a little more cash. Still has the original warranty plus I paid for the extra two year warranty. Everything came out to $438 out the door. I'm happy with it :)

It's nothing spectacular but it's doing the job I need it to do.

only problem i see is its not 120hz.and only has 2 hdmi inputs
i got my insignia 46" around may of 2010 1080/120hz for $600 out the door

expect to see some traces during action scenes
i noticed it quite a bit on my tv watching transformers in HD, and I have 120hz, or thats what they claim anyway

good snag though, i hope you have good luck with it and dont need that warranty

Mine only has two HDMI inputs as well, I use one for my desktop and the other for my dvd player. What else needs to be hooked up to it over HDMI?
