Why oh why didn't I take the blue pill?

I haven't been on here in a few years. I'm sure some of you might still remember me by the posts in my sig. I've been out of the scene for a little while now. I currently share a minivan with my wife and kids, but I'm about to get a new project car. I've been looking on craigslist and I think I've found one. It's a 97 Civic EX with a 97 B18B1 already swapped and running for $2000. The guy says it needs a cat and 2 O2 sensors to pass VA inspection. I'm getting about $8000 for my tax return and I'm setting aside $4000 for my project. I'm just waiting on the car and to figure out how I want to go into it.

I might have to hold off on my next project car. I'm going tomorrow to take a look at a 2001 IS300 for $6000, says it has a bit of a rough idle but other than that runs/drives great. We'll see tomorrow. I've wanted this car for a long time. I just can't see spending $12,000 on a 11 year old car. It's not worth it, but $6,000 is a different story.

Welcome back !

There is NO reason that IS300 should have anything that gives it a "Rough Idle". I would avoid it. That motor is NOT cheap to work on.

Yea, I know it's not. I'm gonna at least check it out today. It's an auto 2JZ-GE, so I'll probably be doing a manual swap.

I thought that said "I'm black", found that to be ironic with your username and all.

Lol, no. So the wife and I decided to not go with the IS300. I am, however, gonna go take a look at that Civic today in a few hours.

2jz? no shit!

Yep, the 2001-2005 Lexus IS300's had a 2JZ-GE engine in it. Lexus is made by Toyota and the IS300's are supposed to be Lexus's sports car, so they opted for the supra engine.
