Blue screen of death

well, i got this last night:

Computer was laggy as hell, and i restarted it.
just to be delivered something i didnt want.
but honestly have been expecting for a while.

go into BIOS and do the hard disk self test and it takes about 30seconds for it to return with #1-7 Fail.

so, im guessing the hd is toast.

actually couldnt come at a worse time. owe 1800 in taxes, trying to buy a house, and having a kid.

fuck. lol.

mine froze up one time and did that.. i shut it off, turned it back on and back to normal..

do you need another HDD? pm me maybe we can work something out cheap.

boot off a windows cd and then perhaps try and salvage what you can?
or hook the toasted hard drive as a secondary and salvage files that way

i've seen multiple reboots (many) make something like this go away, for a short while
but if the failure is heat related you can lose more data

dont have a windows cd to boot off of. still have the windows vista backup cds from when i bought the computer before it was deleted and xp was put on it.

not sure if it was heat related, could have been, the underside would get pretty warm at times.

If you do get a new drive either way make sure it gets good airflow. Was the machine confined or sitting on carpet?

no, it rarely comes off my desk. the more I think about it it could have been an overheating thing. I don't know. going to get a new drive for now and may just buy one of those fan things that you put under a laptop to help in the future. I really don't want to buy a new laptop til Windows 8 comes out and see if I like that os or not.

that HDD is fucked. youll be lucky if you can get anything off of it even when booting from a live CD. hope you didnt want anything, or had the data backed up, data recovery can be expensive as fuck.

yeah, I have been expecting this for a good time now. everything of importance has already been copied to a portable hard drive as well as to my desktop.
except my porn. lol. that's all gone. but, there's still tumblr so I'm good.
