So a few days ago i Tryed starting up my car and it starts but badly misfires, in order to keep it from stalling i had to keep my foot to the floor and it only would rev to about 3500 rpm while still misfiring. I know some things that might have caused problems but im not sure.

1) It's been sitting for about three weeks with no ignition wires, or air intake, just the throttle body is there. about a week and a half ago it rained hard all through the night. i was wondering if possibly i have bad plugs because they were possibly soaked or if i got water in the engine because there was nothing guarding the throttle body.

2) When I started the engine for the first time in 3 weeks the serpintine belt wasn't on b/c i was replacing the a/c motor that mounts on the front of the engine block. could this have possibly caused the timing belt to slip?

Theres definetly some kind of problem b/c it stalls in idle and like i said only does 3500 rpm whith my foot in the floor, and ontop of that when its doing 3500 it misfires so bad that if you didn't know it was a car you would think it was a harley because it was a farely loud rumble with the misfire kicking in to make a harley type sound. when i went to put it in reverse to see if it would move in gear or work any better it just rolled a few feetr, lost power, and stalled out. after that it wont even turn over.

any ideas if its the valves, or something else???

I'm deleting your other thread. You don't need to post the same thing all over the forum. Just post in once in the right spot and bump it if necessary...

sorry for posting it twice, I realized it was in the wrong section after posting it and couldn't figure out how to move it over.

i changed the plugs and the other ones were fried, it still wont turn over though, could it be the distributor got messed up when i put it through the wrong firing sequence?

The dizzy's are know to go bad, also you said the motor was un covered and it rained... mite be the IACV being soaked... u tried to clean it out yet, also with the plugs I would pull them wipe them clean.... but the coil in the dizzy goes bad and another idea is maybe a bad main relay not being grounded... just another thought

the plugs get spark so I dont think its the dizzy. could the battery not have enough voltage running from it.

:p i was just adding on to what i said so ppl wouldn't ask how old the battery was
and what part of VT are you in??? i saw your civic rally, i go up to Brandon every summer. my friend owns an old rock quarry around Leicester he really wants to build a rally track and he has alot of land to work with!
off topic aha but anyway ill double check the grounds and relay.

About to say... I don't know if it is the grounds, or relay but stranger things have happend to me and customers cars.... I live about 45mins north of ya friend on a Dairy farm... I got plenty of land to go bombing threw... and thanks!

so it doesn't get spark now. the wires and plugs are new. and the distributor is getting power from the battery. but it still wont turn over. im thinking its definetly the distributor, does anyone know how to test the distributor, i already called up local stores and they cant. it could also be the ecu b/c the ecu isnt showing a CEL. is the ecu programmed to tell the dizzy to make spark, or does the dizzy just go off power from the battery and the cam...?

The dizzy has a coil in it... ALL HONDAS are known for the coil going and your get the exact problem your talking about. Normaly you can just replace the coil if you know how, or go get a new or used on... from store or local junk yard... and install it. I do recomend a Timing light after you get the new one or used one so u can re time your car again ....
