Since Kristen and I stopped smoking almost 6 months ago, we have been trying to get the house cleaned up from top to bottom, doing a full scrub each month, per room (and painting whatever needs to be painted/whatever)

We use a humidifier but it kind of sucks, it seems way too small and doesn't do much besides need to be cleaned all the time, and the element inside is actually RUSTING and causing odor.

So instead I would like to find some sort of air purifier. Or atleast something that attracts dust and dander.

Does anyone here use something that I can check out?

I have an aunt that used a pretty high end ionizer. I noticed a smell for a little but quickly got used to it. She said it helped with air quality a good deal. I was only there for a few days so I dont know exactly how well it works over a longer period. She said it pulls odors and what not out of just about anything.

Check out this one...

My Fiance and I bought the Oreck ones 2 months ago, They do a great job with odors and dog hair. We use the Pro shield plus in the bed room and the Dual max out in the living room. I have noticed that i breath so much better and i sleep so much better with it on. I use to sleep with a fan but don't need it anymore.

They are noisy when they are on full blast.

the tabletop was first on my list but looking to spend under $150. even a slight improvement is better than no improvement

Go on Ebay, and find a UV light. It's made in the 40's, and it's really uncommon. My father has several of these things.

But beware: It's a tube of argon excited by RF electricity. So it "appears" to have no wires, but it will put you in the ER in some of the worst pain that the human body can endure. And I'm not joking nor exagerating.

And just remember, if you're worried about the tot touching it, I grew up in a house of these things. As well carbon-tet fire extinguishers. And I turned out fine. Better, even.

They are simple. Most people can't get them to work because they don't know how.

earlier this week i picked up the honeywell HEPAclean for 249. it has a pair of real hepa filters inside, as well as a charcoal odor filter and a UV lamp.

it seems to be working OK. but we both have a small sore throat now. not sure if it is sickness related or the ionizer. we have been running it nonstop on medium setting since wednesday.
