99 civic 1.6L SOHC, Test drove by my wife, but when I went to pick it up, run - it didn't. New fuel pump, plugs, and plug wires later, it starts, but as soon as the key springs to the "run" position, it dies. If I keep clicking it into "start", it will keep running, but 30 sec into the click-on, click-off routine, it still won't stay running. When it slicks off, it dies like fuel/ignition stopped completely... there's no "almost running" in the transition.

What changes are there between "start" and "run"?

i have a 94 honda dx two door and i did a 94 si vtec mini swap and im some how not getting fuel to my new filter i have new main relay and pump and over half of gas in the tank i have pressure in the fuel tank but nothing is going to the engine..... wtf could it be iv got a lot of money in it and really don't wanna replace lines......plz help anyone is there anythings or thing i can do to test???? i use air and had what looked like water built up in it but still nothing getting through.....

doc, find your main relay and hold it in your hand if you feel clicks every time then your good but if you feel no clicks then you may have a bad main relay its under you fuse box in your car driver side

it the car starts then its not the relay, i would guess that the switch has gone bad, go down to autozone and get a new one for 20 bucks. and if thats not whats wrong well its just 20 bucks, but it sounds like thats the problem. and crxd16z6 start your own thread.

nah im fine wher im at mine did so it could be the main relay :fuckyou3:

Main relays in the 96-00's are in-between the glove box and the door on the passenger side btw...
Only difference between run and start should be the engagement of the starter.
Sounds like your switch is going.
You could take the cover off the column and "hotwire" it to be sure.

No, he's right. Please don't hijack other people's threads. If the OP can start a new thread with only 5 posts, then you certainly can with 17.

Also, :moved:

Yes, it's the switch. I can keep it running if I hold about 1 degree of "start" on the switch (not enough to turn the starter). Thanks for the "Autozone" tip... I'll do it. I find that this is a recall for '99 Civics, but they tell me it's been done once already on my car (can't tell me when tho... hummm?), so maybe I'll get a case of the suckers.
