I have a 98 civic dx and im looking for a good place in the new england area to buy and install a jdm motor/transmission...im in maine and from what ive heard there arent many good places locally to do it..like the username says im wishing for a k20 so keep that in mind....any suggestions or help referring me to a good place are greatly appreciated...thanks

Why not do it yourself? You don't really need any specialty tools to do a swap, and there's TONS of information on the internet about just about any swap you can imagine.

:werd:
the amount you will learn about your setup doing the swap yourself is invaluable down the road when something needs to be fixed or replaced

yea just do everything yourself its better to know more about your car then someone else

I live in vermont and could do the swap for you... But I agree with everyone elts, its better to do it yourself

I wish I could, believe me...but i have very little mechanical knowledge or experience, or any of the equipment needed to do it. i've been driving basic tuners for a while but i haven't started getting serious about it until recently. i'm sure i can get ahold of the motor but i didn't think it was a good idea to go to a regular garage for the swap for some reason

You're probably going to have a hard time finding a garage that'll do a swap. The tools required aren't all that expensive, and the work really is common sense.

Hello,

i have a 2001 honda accord lx . 4cylinder. automatic. Do i have a f23 tranny? can i use a h22 auto tranny instead? is h22 auto tranny better then f23? if not which tranny is compatible and better? Is it worth better transmission coolers also? THANK YOU! i cannot drive 5 speed.

If the transmission is stock, than yes, it's an F23 tranny. And yes, you can use an H22 tranny. If you're not going to swap the entire motor out though, I would just leave it stock...

EDIT: Also, please don't spam the same question all over the forum. Thanks...

Thank you so much for replying. I am going to need a tanny soon. I did not want to get the same tranny because I hear it fails a lot more then prelude tranny ( h22/h23 ). My current stock engine(150 000kms) is in great condition so I don't see the point of changing that as well. I wanted to know why you recommand getting another f23 tranny? I really want to keep this car and would love yours and everyone's advice on this matter.

Thanks!

can I?

Can i transfer a DB15B7 engine from a 95 civic into my 1991 EG8 without too much f-ing around? the engine in my civic is B15B4.
Also anyone in Perth who could possibly lend me an ear or some time to do the operation?
