Tha car got brought to me with a rev limit at 3 grand. Tha wiring looked like it was done by a rwo year old. I wired better made it look nicer noticed tha timing was way out. Re did tha timing so it right. Now it won't start........... Any ideas

any codes showing at the ECU? - usually when it won't rev beyond about 2500-3000 rpm, it will have a code 4 which causes the ECU to go into limp mode which prevents it from revving up

are the spark plug wires in the correct location on the distributor cap? - DOHC ZC wire locations are not the same as SOHC D-series engines - #1 wire should be at top, #3 at front toward radiator, #4 at bottom and #2 at rear toward firewall

is the ground wire at the thermostat housing connected, clean and secure?

which timing was way out? ignition timing or camshaft timing?

was this originally a DPFI DX model? - injectors not spraying would lead me to believe that something was not done right with the injector wiring when making the DPFI to MPFI wiring changes or that the ground at the thermostat housing is not connected or not secure - this ground is for the ECU and main relay and injector resistor box, among other things

spark plug wiring should be like this:

It was tha timing belt. Cams were pointing diffrent ways as well as tha crank. I'm surprised it started. Pretty sure tha wires are right ill double check when I get home. As far as tha ground issue. I cant find tha connector in.tha harness. That needs to be grounded. Code wise it had 4 now all it has it ten. Ten blinks instead of a long flash. I know tha ground goes to tha thermostat but I think someone switched tha harness. Cuz I can find back up lights connector or tha square ground connector. I know black with a red stripe is to groud and I ohmed to tha frame and it has resitance.

code 10 is for the Intake Air Temp sensor - is the correct connector plugged into it? - it is a white connector with 2 wires, 1 red with yellow stripe and 1 green with white stripe

the thermostat housing ground has 4 wires to the ring connector and should come out of the harness like this (also shows back-up lights)

Yes it is right connector. It wasnt before when it was brought to me hut I figured out which one it was. I am used to tha thermostat ground being a square. This car does have that connector its grounded to tha starter bracket..I checked restance and its there. Tha back up lights are no where to be found. I have a feeling.they changed tha harness to tha si or something Idk but still injectors not spraying

for the back-up lights, it sounds like the car may have been automatic transmission originally - the engine harness for the automatics doesn't have the wires for the back-up lights since they are at the shift lever in the console

does the fuel pump prime when you turn the key to 'on'?

Yes tha fuel pump primes tha rail turns off I can best tha pump turn back on while cranking. N watch tha fuel go tru tha rail during cranking with injector removed. I put voltage to all injectors herd em all click

On tha resistor box tha black n red wires does it matter to what injectors they go too ? I know they got switched around. U red it didn't matter to where they went

no, it doesn't matter which of those wires go to which injector

Ok. So if I apply power to tha injectors it will squirt fuel. I have 12 volts at tha resistor via yellow n black wire. That's with pos. Lead on traitor and neg. Lead at ground. While cranking it has ten volts as well at tha injectors has ten volts. But tha injectors won't spray

How do tha injectors work. I can't figure out why they wont spray. It's really annoying. Any one have a good diag or ideas in what's going on. Please help

The injectors are fed a constant power from the resistor box and are grounded directly through the ECU. If you have power while cranking check the other pin for each injector and see if you have a ground pulse. I am betting that the wires between the injectors and ecu have problems or the ecu is not getting the proper signal from the cam position or cylinder position sensor.

If its not getting proper singal will it fire tha injectors at all? And so tha red yellow brown n blue wires are all ground?

It uses 3 separate sensors in the distributor to tell it the basic crank position all relative to #1 being at TDC, then the other two are for fuel, and ignition. I wired a 4th gen ZC OBD1 up almost a year ago. They use three separate sensors - the ECU sets up TDC for #1 when it's in the "start" mode - when you turn ignition on and advance to the "Start" position. From there it looks at the other two sensors for the fuel reference and ignition reference signals - that are of course relative to crank position.

Without a schematic I don't know what wires you are refering to - possibly the injectors - as was stated in another post, they float at 12V and the ECU drops them to ground at one side of the circuit causing current flow, which fires the injector for fuel flow.

If any of the 3 postional sensors are not correct relative to the signal(s) the ECU receives, I would speculate it cuts both fuel and spark when it errors out. Just a guess, but that's how I would code the fault system.

The build I did is a 91 Si hatchback, have all the wiring schematics. The tech data I have may apply to your model, or have your model within it. If you're interested PM me and I'll send you a CD ROM. It's the Haynes factory books and some other stuff I collected along the way.

Here's a sample of some of it.

So it tha dizzy is dis connected will tha injectors fire. So tha car was running when it got brought to me it's runnin tha ls dizzy

With distributor disconnected, the injectors will not fire. With distributor disconnected there is no reference signals for the ECU to trigger or sync the injectors to.

So i put tha new dizzy in and it has fuel. Spark. Still no start. I have a cel for tdc. Also when i go koeo tha cel stays on it Dosent turn off like it should. Any ideas

Now tha ground wire to tha valve cover started smoking.and. was real hot. Then a relay by tha driver headlight tha wires were smoking. Idk I'm at a loss. Any help
