So after going over ways to save money and discussing with my Fiance...I realized how much money I was spending in gas driving my truck. . I averaged about 260 miles per tank with a 28 gallon tank using 93 oct( yes i use 93). I put 11500 miles on my truck in 1 year(took about 5 long trips with it last year). Thats about 45 fill ups at about $120 dollars a fill up totaling roughly $5400. About 9 miles per gallon, i mine as well turn the AC up this summer and leave the windows open.

So my criteria was to get into a nice car that got around 25mpg, AWD, and brand new and for around the same car payment as the truck.

I also only drive less then 3500 miles a year to work. So i decided that a lease was best for me.

I ended up with a Liquid Platinum 2012 Infiniti G25X and prepaid the scheduled maintainence on it for the 39 months saving another $300 dollars.

It's a very very nice car. It's no G37 in regards to power, but i really like it. It does have a major downfall for me. There is no way to play streaming audio(no AUX port) through the radio. There is a USB port but only reads hard drives so you can play your Gaypod or Gayphone or your Android, but you can't stream Pandora or any other internet music app. There is an aftermarket AUX port i can have installed(not permanently) but it's $500 which requires a $280 infiniti module + installation.

I estimate i will save, conservativly, $2500/year driving this car over my truck which includes the $4.73/m increase in insurance and gas savings. That doesn't include any maintainence on the truck.

Plus the fact that I have the car under warranty for the full lease where as one thing went wrong with the truck would be OOP.

Also as far as savings, I cancelled HBO and HD. No more Game of Thrones<cry>

Over all thats about a $230/m savings and $8970 over the life of the lease..not to bad

more buttons than the space shuttle :) can you get an FM transmitter for your "device"? i spent a few hundred dollars on a replacement headunit just to find out they all stream like shit and went back to a cable setup. luckily it takes SD cards its so much easier.

is yours an auto too?

yeah they only make them in an Auto... but it's tiptronic....i could try an FM transmitter but from my past experiences they always sound like crap. Soon as you drive 1/2 mile, all of a sudden, that station has reception.

Get a wired fm transmitter not a wireless one it is a night and day difference.
Amazon.com: Peripheral / PAC IS77 Universal iPod Dock and 3.5mm Input for FM Radios: Car Electronics
I have installed many of these units and never once had a problem with any of them

bought a Monster Fm transmitter...crystal clear so far..hopefully problem solved

The Celerity Integrated Translator reports:

"I saved money... By buying a new car"

Celerity Integrated Translator sighs.

Where you stomping on your truck all the time? 9mpg is just shitty.

Nice car.

nope, just mostly short distance driving...the best i ever got was going to NJ shore, 4 hour trip i managed 350 miles which is 12.5 MPG.

That sucks. Out of my 3 fullsize trucks I have owned the worst I got was 15mpg around town. My buddy's Hemi Ram Quad cab gets 12mpg towing his 5k pound boat. I would have traded it too.

yeah my best friend has a 2010 Ford F150 XLT, he gets about 14MPG, he is actually trading it in this week for a 2012 Jetta TDI Premium.

I actually was trying to get a 2012 Jetta TDI Premium before the Infiniti but the dealer tried to offer me 13k on my truck and i walked about the door without saying a word, they chased after me, i finally got them up to 17500 for the trade but the lease was $475/m which didn't include any service during the lease. I wasn't going to pay $475/m for a Jetta, regardless of the gas mileage i was gonna get, I am paying less then this for the my G25X and all my service is included throughout the lease.

I'm also paying less then what i was paying for my truck, not by very much.

Full Service Lease is the way to go if you're just going to get a new one down the road. Residual value keeps the payment down if you aren't driving super long distances(from what the looks you aren't at all).

What kind of truck was it again? That way I steer clear. I am looking to get a silverado or ford f150 4wd but just a short box/daycab for mountain trips and construction projects.

If you're looking at it for more work oriented stuff, ever considered the Ford Transit? I think they came in 4wd flavor... I'm not positive though.

Mine was a Nissan Titan, don't get me wrong, i absolutely love that thing....now that i drove a truck... i prefer it to a car....when we buy a house, I will end up driving another truck...right now though, saving money is key...

and yes Celerity....buying a new car just saved me alot of money....My truck payment was 427 over 5 years, paying for oil changes, maintainence and anything that goes wrong out of pocket, also had 84,000 miles . new car is $426 over 39 months...2.5times the gas mileage with a smaller tank, full warranty on anything that goes wrong and all service, which also gives you peace of mind.

It's kind of hard to argue numbers. It's not like i went from an 4 year old prius to a 2012 lexus hybrid and claimed to save money lol

Would you say the same thing if i said i just bought brand new energy efficient windows for my house to save money?

your logic is a contradiction
you talk of saving money and better gas mileage, but then you get a luxury car with a V6
and its a lease to boot

penny wise pound foolish, but to each their own

the only reason they claim those mpg figures with a v6 awd is because of the 7 speed autotragic
would be interesting to see your real world mpg figures, and its about time you started tracking mileage the proper way, your whole logic is flawed by your calculation methadology.
for example, you cant claim 200 miles for a 19 gallon tank, you need to determine exactly how much gas you consumed from the full tank

260miles/28 gallons = 9.28mpg, but we all know you never get to use the ALL the gas in the tank, and even your weighted average method blows

take all this with a grain of salt, numbers never lie, but the methods do, i crunch numbers for a living so i'm a bit over the top on this stuff, lol

also, its a known fact that luxury automobile importers increased the number of gears in their auto transmissions to get around the mpg regulations put in place by the gov't
don't buy the hype.

lol really? you really suck a crunching numbers, I hope they don't pay you much for it.

of course you don't use all the gas, that just means you fill up more times if you don't use whatever gas you have in the tank....do you not see that? it all comes back the same, thats why things are measured in averages.....

If i have a full tank and fill up every time at half tank, im going to fill up twice as much at half the cost....it would still cost the same as if i ran the car almost to empty, i'm going to fill up at 1/2 as much at twice the cost....

my dads wife has a 2011 G37S, she gets 22mpg, ......with a much smaller V6 i can assume safely that I will be getting 25mpg...but time will tell
....even if i don't I will be getting more tehn 10MPG, that i can assure you.

And also, i don't need to measure MPG with the truck, all i have to do is go to my credit card statement to see i fill up 4-5 times a month ranging from $90 to $115 dollars a fill up(again i use 93 oct, thats my choice)

I actually believe he probably gets 9.X mpg in city in a titan. My buddy gets maybe 12 on the highway with his. But doesn't help he has big old wide 33"s and goes 75.

My cousin traded in his Dodge Ram Big Country Edition for the same reason. He was spending about $500/month in gas alone. Got a brand new Cadillac CTS and though it has a slightly higher payment he's saving a good $400/month after fuel and insurance.
