:shrug2:

i can get you an HP probook for 3/4 that price with those same specs.

in fact, the only thing missing from the one on my desk is SSD... i opted for the 500gb 7200 rpm drive.

That's the base spec. They said it can come with up to 768 SSD, 16G of ram, and the 3.7 (turbo boost) i7.

0.71 inches thick, and under 5lbs. Only comes in 15" though.

chris can you get an HP that isnt made from plastic, doesnt sound like a blowdryer, and doesnt have a bullshit POS low res screen for 3/4 that price?

Apple gets dinged for high price in reference to the specs, but IMO they have the best QC out of any company. they use the best materials, the computers are more aesthetic have better thermal managment to dissipate heat with less noise in a smaller package. some people care about these things.

sure can man.

in fact, the new guy we hired this morning said his mac was getting super hot.

i work on these things everyday i just cant stand them anymore. if its not one pussy bitching about how acrobat crashed his mac its another bitching about how he cant get his gestures working.

it's your user-base.

The folks who work on macs here never have a single issue. Truth be told, if those same people were forced to work on a windows box, they'd have no issues either. But low and behold, when I put some windows users on macs, they had the same issues on the mac.

This +infinity.

Any bad user can fuck up any machine you give them, no matter what you do to protect them from themselves.

Like, how do people get virus' on corporate laptops with UAC installed.

'BITCH, you had to tell the computer TWICE you wanted to run cindy.exe. DIE IN A FIRE!'

stupid users are stupid

+1

Most mac users dont encounter thermal problems because they dont even do S**t with their computers. however, when someone does like heavy a/v, coding, etc... macbooks hit their limits and start throttling.

regardless, they make mighty good products. its just too bad their marketing and pr people are bitch ass mofos.

IMO, spending 2 grand on a computer, of any brand, in this day and age is stupid. I have a hard time justifying 599 to be honest with you. Tomorrow, there's one for 499 thats better.

Of course, you can't wait forever, and are expected to take a loss. But a 2 grand wash hurts like a firehose.

If I had the cash to burn I'd have one. So far its out speced all the other available ultrabooks with better display, fit and finish, etc. I challenge anyone here to find me a similar computer in the same quality as build.

My roommate who is a developer at a notorious NW company has a macbook air for minor crap and loves it.

I have a bunch of friends that will have them. They love their Macbooks and most are into heavy A/V using very mac specific programs. Also they're in "Creative" so they feel it fits their personality by being a fan boy.

:raises hand:
Probook; aluminum case, pretty quiet even when the fan is on(which barely comes on; unless it's on all the time and has variable speed), 1366x768 screen. I bought it last year for about $540 shipped.

The main thing I like about that Macbook is the thickness; the Air was appealing but the specs and price suck. The performance vs. price argument is probably why I'll never own a Mac.

Ever notice that many Apple fans are also the ones that believe Beats headphones are the best headphones ever?

I have Pio HDJ-2000's. TYVM.

I'm also not REALLY a fan boy, but i will say, not many manufacturers can match apple for specs.

im using a probook 4530s and its great.

April of 2007 I spent $4200 on a macbook pro. Maxed out ram, video card, hd, extra battery, extra power adapter.

I still use it today.

1366x768 screen, fail.

guarantee its a bottom dollar screen with shit colors, and terrible viewing angles.

the MBP screen is 2880x1800.which is insanely high for a 15" screen and of course it doesnt need to be that high even, but even the old MBP has a better screen (colors and viewing angle wise) in 1440x900.

these things DO create a more polished and higher priced product. and you should appreciate that some people do care about these better specs, while others will not. its honestly like bashing someone for buying a full-race turbo mani, when they could have gotten a cheaper one off ebay. some people just want the quality, see the justification for the added cost, and will pay it.

note: i do not even own an apple laptop/notebook. i have an asus gaming laptop with a shitty screen, suits my needs now. but i i had the cash to spend, i would not hesitate to pick up this MBP, because i see why it costs more, and the reasons arent only in the cpu/ram.

Why are they called books? Back in my day, books were made of paper. Damn punk kids these days.
