Hi there

Am new here .. Want sharing opinions for my projects B16A2 complete engine swapping on a Honda city sx8 . Is there lot of modification ... best way for installation ... any opinions etc ...

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for reply...
Its a Honda City yr 00 , 1.5L .. body style 4 doors.... Transmission manual .. from Thailand country. The curb weight is 940-985kg .. I think its the lightest body among honda models but am wondering how much horsepower the body can handle !! Plan to setup stabilizers Front + Rear .
For braking .. original drum rear brake ! conversion rear disc may not be applied for this model . Plan to workout better front brake system first to see the result.

Isn't the City just another version of the Civic? D15B and D13B's, so if they kept the family tree rooted it should be a fairly easy swap.

yeah .. it related honda civic ( sixth generation) . Do you think the halfshaft B16 will be fitted or modification need to be done ?

If its like a 2000 Civic Sedan....swapping a B16A2 ain't that hard. Read on EK swaps and you'll find the info.

You will definitely need the B16A halfshafts

what do you think about the braking system .. front disc + rear drum .. any advice ??

My advise...brakes are fine for now. I tackle one project at a time

Is the car RHD or LHD? Where are you going to source the swap? Will it be the same side drive (steering wheel on same side)??

Also....please tell us the motor that's in it now. Says it on the engine block where it connects to trans....right near the radiator. Like d16z6 or d15b. I need to know if it's VTEC already.

Thanks you ...I got the same advice for the brakes . I was a bit confusing about rear dics vs drum .. but the honda city rear brake system is independent from the front ( i.e rotor only ) .. brakes are fine for now ;)

The car is RHD .. The Engine B16 is RHD side drive too.

The original engine d15b is non-vtec .. engine block connect to trans .. right near the radiator . I mind the b16 block will fit same position brackets . isn't it ?

You need (at least) the rear trans mount off the B16.....all the other D-Series mounts will work.

Once you got the B-Series rear trans mount........motor, trans, axles, and shift linkage will mount directly with no problems.

The motor is OBD2 (if it's a B16A2). Have you confirmed this?

What is the code on the B16A2 ECU?

If chassis and swap are OBD2....I believe you just use the B16A2 engine harness/ECU.....and take the old harness/ECU out. The engine harnesses should be one piece. Directly off sensors straight to the ECU

Thanks you for the tip .. I will check for the rear trans mount to be included ;)

B16A engine second generation OBD 1 ECU code P30 with trans hydraulic

My chassis is OBD 1 P3s. I will check the engine harnesses to be in one piece . I attach a pic of both ecu . what do you think about ?

My project plans for the B16A engine are daily driven , street racing 400m and 190 + HP.

First Phase:
The B16 engine will be already chipped ecu , 4-2-1 header and all stock parts engine.

Any suggestions with low cost budget if possible ..???

The chassis is also cable trans and conversion is needed for B16 hydraulic trans.. Any advice ?

Its a 2000 Civic with a cable trans?? And it's OBD1?? No Civic in the states or Japan are anything like that. They are OBD2B with hydraulic transmissions.

ECU's are different OBD.....at least they don't look like the plugs are similar.

I'm really confused about your swap now lol. You should be OBD2 and I've never ever seen a B16A2 swap that came from the factory with a P30 ECU. B16A (SiR 2) and B16A3 (USDM Del Sol VTEC B16A3) ran that P30.

Only Civics that are cable transmissions are OBD0 (pre-1992) cars.

Tha is for the Wiki link lol. I've owned that swap  it's called SiR II OBD1 with hydro trans.....I know.

Not sure but I think you perceived my last post incorrectly. If You read again.....iit explains how weird that car is compared to ever single 2000 Civic I've ever seen or read about. I'm guessing India was way behind and they had cable transmissions and onboard diagnostics that are 5+ years older than any USDM or JDM civic of the same year

The whole situation has me curious and baffled.

If it is truly a OBD1 car....Then you just have to run VTEC solenoid, VTEC oil pressure and Knock Sensor (google and you'll learn more) from the B16A (SiR II is NOT a B16A2) engine harness to the plugs where the ECU connects. Ffsquad.net has good info on the process.

And a hydro trans can be put in a cable car with that adapter. Mixed reviews on its functionality. I (personally) would get a rebuilt SiR I cable trans (88-91 Civic).....no need for a adapter. But if funds are tight...get the conversion adapter and deal with it.

According to the never accurate Wikipedia the SX8 City was based on the EF Civic platform- which means the 88-91 Civic in the US market. That would explain the cable clutch transmission.

CAFROG, as far as OBD revisions and "being behind," every country has their own regulations on what kinds of emissions controls a car must have for a certain model year- so every country's standards will be slightly different based on the laws they have regarding their cars.
