Hey there fellow hondaswappers!
Like the title say I want to do a brake line tuck in my 97 ek hx coupe! It was an automatic but I did the manual trans swap and now have an ls in it.i want to know if it is possible for someone like me who has some knowledge as to swaps and small engine enhancements knowledge to do this on my own. I want to do this because I want my engine bay to look cleaner. I'm also doing a wire tuck but that's after my brake line tuck. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

To do it properly you'll have to pull the dash out so that you can put the lines and proportioning valve under there. You'll also need a flaring kit, some line, and some fittings I assume (never done a brake line tuck before.)

A word of advice: I wouldn't bother doing the tuck and all that. I have done a wire tuck on my car and it just became more of a pain in the ass than it was worth. Every time I needed to add a wire for something new I put in the car, I had to remove the bumper, fender, side skirt, etc to get to the wiring that I relocated. If you should ever run in to any problems, it becomes difficult to track down the problems after you have tucked the wire.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do, these are just some things to consider.

im my humble opinion... if it's not a show car, but a car thats actually driven on a daily basis... a wire and brake tuck become more of a hassle than what its really worth... just my 2 cents... i know my cars will never be show cars of any kind... and they will be driven, so things like electrical gremlins and fluid leaks will inevitably happen... easier fix... faster way to get and stay on the road...

^^^ What they said. I would never do a tuck. I wouldn't lower one either - however, there was a time when I had a lowered car - much of the reason why I won't lower another. However, the days when I had the lowered car, I liked it and thought it was cool.

Nobody can know how much you want a tucked engine bay - that's for you to decide. Experienced members have advised against it and for good reason.

But, if you really want it, I say phuk it, do it. But, go in with both eyes open. Do it right, so you can maintain it if needed, without a MAJOR hassle. Locate interface points in locations where they are accessable for maintenance.

For wiring, will entail custom re-make of the harness's, not spliced up abortions. Full new wire runs without splices in critical areas, then there won't be problems. Make sure routing and penetrations are done properly, clamped properly, bushings used in penetrations so insulation won't be cut, etc. If you do a half-assed splice job with the wiring you will be chasing gremlins forever. The car will be an unreliable POS. The brake system is much the same and there is also a safety risk.

If you're not experienced, this is a huge undertaking. For an experienced builder, this is a huge undertaking. Harness's will need to be mocked up, then built to get it anywhere near right.

Consider if it's worth it to you - if so, go for it. :)

Thanks for all the input fellas! I plan on doing the brake line tuck just because I want to paint my engine bay! I'm still debating on whether to tuck the harness or not. I definitely won't be doing this alone. A couple of buddies have done this and haven't had any problems for years. They both have experience doing the things. One actually works for a Honda dealer and is ASE certified so I know he's very well informed with these two tasks. I will post up pics of the tuck as it progresses. Thanks for your advice guys!

Definitely post up some pics. You will make good use of the support system of your pals - the chances of success are greatly improved with experienced help.

Good good luck with it.

I've done a brake tuck on my ek. I used the chasebays DIY kit. Comes with all the fitting and stainless brake line. Not to hard just time consuming
