Portland International Raceway. We weren't running the chicane on the front straight. Super easy track, ALL FLAT.

Ended up not getting any video. But Brittany got lots of pictures.

It was a lot of fun. I rode in the beginner class and they provided in-class instruction between sessions.

Everything went well, no issues with the bike.

It was a Motocorsa (local Ducati dealer), great bunch of guys, very helpful.

Hell ya, looks like fun.

I was surprised at how flat that track was the first time I saw it. You get in on a rental day at Pacific.

Yea it was awesome. Even though its only a SV650, I was still wide open hitting the rev limiter at the end of the front straight. Probably 125ish mph. Fastest I've ever gone.

I'm impressed! I get the heebie jeebies at the end of the straights coming into the turns going ~75 mph in the karts and your doing 50 mph more on 2 wheels.

It takes a set of brass ballz to get out on a race track and mix it up in traffic. Really sharpens up the driving skills/reaction time once back on the street.

Not to mention the brains to take it out on a race track when you want to go fast.

Awesome!

Thanks! There are some restrictions for the beginner class. For the morning sessions we follow around the instructors in a line to learn lines. In the afternoon "friendly" passes on the straights are allowed. Since I'm on my SV and not the fastest bike out there it was a little harder for me to get around some people, but I was passing some inline 4's on the straight.

I was starting to trust my front brake more towards the end of the day. It amazes me how quickly you can scrub speed off with just the front. The instructors advised us to only use our front brake so I never once touched my rear brake.

Very cool man, also very jealous.

It is a blast! You can get into it really cheaply, I've only got $1600 into it so far.

nice photos :)

i was expecting a post about autocrossing or HPDE, but this is pretty badass. +1 on the brass balls. i don't do fast on bikes.

It really doesn't feel that terribly fast actually. It's very controlled. I'd recommend it to anyone that loves going fast.

Nice. I love going fast on bikes. The gixxer's speedometer freaked me out a few times reading a little higher than I thought it was going to. lol

Beautiful picture. Shows some action! Wondering where you are at this point. Theory and training. Are you still in a classroom for lecture and theory? If so, is it all about riding technique or are they getting into a little tuning and bike setup.

Tires, and air pressure kinda stuff?

EDIT: Took another look, that is a really cool picture!

That time there was classroom instruction. Mostly basic stuff.

Second time I went out on the 25th I rode in the intermediate group. For tire pressure, you just ask the corresponding tire vendor and they'll tell you what the pressure for the day is.

Nothing tuning or suspension related though really. Unfortunately.

It will come in time. You should be developing a feel for the bike now. And a feel for tire pressure, and such. And the engine too with regard to temperature and related performance.

How is it for you on the bike in traffic? For me in the karts it's a whole different animal. Being on the track alone or with 3 or 4 other karts for test and tune is fine. But full up traffic and my stress level skyrockets.

Oh I'm already super comfortable on the bike. The powerband is so easy to ride that I really just twist the throttle and go. At The Ridge Motorsports park I was passing Ducati's in the "carousel." With the rules for trackdays for bikes, the passing rider is who has the responsibility to not hit the rider you are passing and to make a respectful pass.

If you've never done it before, you have to try it at least ONCE. It is so awesome.

Lol, it was my first time, give me a break! I don't have pictures from the second time out yet. I haven't been able to find them online yet.
