Would that be a good combo?

I don't know much about car engines but from my research I see that the Type-R tranny has good acceleration with decent gas mileage.

But I don't think the mileage is really that big of a difference between trannys is it?

And anyone know what an avg cost would be for the tranny itself.

And possibly getting it put in?

Yes, this will make a good combo. The type r trans has better gearing and has a limited slip differential. This means the car is quicker, and no more one tire fires. The downside is that your car will be revving higher on the highway and will result in more noise and more fuel consumption. I imagine there is a 2-3 mpg loss on the highway. I haven't looked in a while, but you are looking at $800 to buy one used and $4-600 to pay someone to install it.

What's a realistic hp goal I can expect to get? Is 300 reasonable?

Or at least 220?

Thanks for your help!

Quicker acceleration but not an increase of horsepower that would be your engine.

Pushing a B18c1 to your desired power level would require some sort of forced induction, or an extensive all-motor build. Both are costly, the all-motor route (typically) being the more expensive of the two.

Oh yeah I'm totally fine with going forced induction, my budget for it would be like 800-1200. So not cheap and not crazy expensive. At least from what I've researched.

A budget of $800-1200 is going to require you to be smart about buying parts. You'll likely have to buy most of your parts used.

Keep in mind that there's a lot more to a turbo kit than just the turbo itself. I'd suggest reading this before going much further:

The USDM and JDM ITR tranny's are very different. 4:40 vs 4.785 final drive. usdm itr is basically the same as a b16a tranny gearing. jdm one has the close box.
