So I do a lot of cooking with stuff I harvest myself. My parents have a huge horseradish plant that they let me take some from cuttings from. I prepped some of it, and made a sour cream based sauce with it. Knowing nothing about "good" horseradish, I really like my final product. Its got good flavor with a strong bite.

Now for those of you who eat it, aside from prime rib, what do you put it on? I've heard its good with pork roast, but I need more ideas lol.

Nice roll, roast beef, radish sauce and topped with a good cheese all melted together nom nom nom.

yeah anything.

Just made some jalapeno jelly here. Yum.

Anywhere you might use mayo, you can use the radish sauce.

you can also bottle some and ship it to me for QA testing purposes. :)

I make a cracker dip/spread with horseradish it sounds odd but it's awesome.

1 Part Pineapple Preserves
1 Part Apple Jelly
1 8oz package of Philadelphia Cream Cheese
Horseradish
Favorite Crackers typically used with a cheese platter, Triscuits, Water Biscuits, whatever you fancy.

You can prepare this mix at anytime but I find the longer it melds together the better so I like to make it a day in advance.

Mix Pineapple Preserve and Apple Jelly in a bowl add Horseradish to taste. (I add a lot, I like the heat)

Place Cream Cheese on some type of small serving platter. let it soften to room temp. Pour Pineapple,Jelly,Horseradish mix over.

Either scoop up some dip and cream cheese with the cracker or provide a spoon to scoop some onto a plate for serving.

Enjoy!

Sounds good. I'll have to try that.

I do the same deal with cream cheese and this stuff called "plum crazier". It has ghost pepper. Only place I can find it is at Whole Foods or Quality Food Center(Kroger).

If I can't find that, I go with Habanero Jelly. Not a bad toss up.

Damn, lots of good ideas here! Thanks!

The recipe I followed was...

2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
3 tablespoons reduced-fat mayonnaise
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
1/2 cup nonfat sour cream

I've still got quite a bit of prepped horseradish and even more raw, to try other mixes with.

EDIT: I didn't use the low fat stuff tho.

Yea, I go on kicks that I use the stuff 3 and 4 times a day, on anything. I actually like mixing a little into some off the shelf BBQ sauce too. Makes for a really good "homemade" BBQ sauce, haha.

Ive heard that mixing it with cocktail sauce is good.

All these ideas, I need to go grocery shopping again lol.

Maybe he likes extra horseradish cocktail and they don't make that?

Pork Tenderloin and horseradish is better than head ...ok maybe not that good, but it's pretty much greatness personified.

i thought cocktail sauce was just ketchup and horseradish sauce to being with?
:shrug2:

Lmao, I didn't know that.

I was gunna try it with chops later this week.

I tried some more of what I made, and it seems like it needs a little tweakin. Maybe more sour cream. :shrug2:
