Hi all, got a question, i did some searching and couldnt come up with any definite answers so i figured i might better just ask. I'm throwing my semi-built b16 in my eg, its got 9:1 pistons and im wondering if thats gunna throw the tune out to drive it until i get my turbo setup on and have it tuned. cheers

assuming you are running a stock ecu and injectors, you should be fine. It may run a little rich, but a little rich isn't dangerous... just bad for fuel economy. stay away form 7 grand + to just be safe.

/\Great news my motor lasted long enough that i can safely say b was right, this things running fat as a mcdonalds employee, but now that the car is up and running, and almost broken in, a few concerns have arose so i figured id better just threadjack myself than start a new thread.

Basically, the motor has 1200 km on it, and ive been starting to beat it up a bit, but it seems as though its running out of power up top, i was wondering if anyone could toss in some inpout as to were to start looking, my setup is a 9:1 b16 stock crank, stock cams, jdm p30 ecu, stock intake, egay header to highflow cat with the stock 2.25 exhaust, ignition timing seems fine, timing light shows its in the middle mark on crank pulley, which if im told correctly is 16 degrees, however, the exhuast cam appears to be out a couple degrees, its still lined up with the zero marks on the gear itself, but after runing it a bit it looks to be a degree or two advanced off from the intake cam, but not enough to have skipped a tooth, would having the exhaust cam advanced two or three degrees from the intake cam a possible culprit, maybe losing some compression ?? Also, is there any way i can counteract some of this richness by playing with ignition timing until i get my hondata and take it to a tuner? Oh, and could it being so rich cause a loss of power ? any help, tips, anything you guys can suggest is appreciated, thanks for the time it took to read my novel.

The running rish IS a power robber. It's likely it's loading up up top dumping in too much fuel and that is eating the power.
As before, just don't romp on it until you get it tuned.
