So I have been thinking that it might be nice to have a tablet so I don't have to lug around a 17" laptop, case, and all the shit in the case when I am on the go. I got my wife an Elocity A7 last year for Christmas, and she likes it. From the little I have used it, it seems pretty cool.

My preferences are:

  • Android, though I am not opposed to iPads, they are just priced above my budget.
  • Less than $150, preferably under $120, under $100 even better.
  • Halfway decent specs, if it can't play movies, and do more than one thing at time, it's useless.
  • Not too interested in super duper name brands, the Elocity surprised us by being pretty nice for the price.
  • 10" preferred to 7"

blackberry playbook?

Looks alright, but it has 2.5 strikes, Blackberry OS? Is that their own version based off Android? Or their own OS? Not too sure if I want a proprietary OS. And it only 7". It is also right at the budget ceiling, and that's the most plain Jane version.

I love my Galaxy tab. I am a Samsung whore tho. Its the 10.1 or whatever. Im not sure what theyre priced at these days tho.

My selling points were its android based. It has flash player, some of the cheaper ones dont. It has all the memory Ill ever need. And, the display is awesome. I have heard people say the 7.1s have better displays, but Im not sure.

My HP Touchpad absolutely ROCKS now with ICS on it. Only problem is that it's old unsupported hardware.

The Xoom is pretty good.
The galaxy drives me nuts with the special charge cable that doesn't do anything really more than USB and some non-standard video outputs.

Oh, get one with a 3g/LTE modem in it. You can always activate it later in life.

All those are $200+, used cheapest I saw was $160 :( I did find a Galaxy on Ebay that is pretty damn cheap, with 2 days to go, and only one bid, maybe if it gets overlooked I'll snipe it.
