Words cannot describe how heinous this event is. The lives impacted by this are forever changed and I sit her typing on my laptop at work while all I can think about is going home and hugging my 3 year old. THe innocence of those kids absolutely breaks my heart. No words can comfort the parents of the people affected by this tragedy. I feel for the first responders, the staff & faculty, the local news reporters who had to break the story and all those that shed a tear because of this. A truly selfish act has jeopardized many, many lives and there is no judgement worthy of the acts committed today.

I couldn't believe when I saw this on the news. I couldn't imaging being in anyone of those positions. A parent, teacher, or officer having to deal with this. Absolutly tragic.

This happened pretty much in my back yard. All reports to the town said "one or two shots fired".

Very strange indeed.

the first bits of news said 1 kid and 1 adult dead. the news sucks. they always just report anything that anyone happens to say or oer hear. days later, it almost always proves that the breaking news was 100% false.

I'm talking about first responders though. i'm friends with several, and with the town 911 services.
The media coverage of this was pathetic. This morning news crews actually filmed themselves driving 100 mph up rt 84 trying to keep up with the police. They thought it was a fuckin game.

Then when onsite, they tricked the police into letting them through (Proudly, mind you) then told everyone on the news (Channel 7) how to get around the barricades and use sideroads to get to the site. Then they went on to make it look like they were caught in gunfire ("We're so scared ! There are police here with assault weapons and they may shoot anytime!")

First on scene was a Newtown Bee reporter (I know everyone at that office, including my ex wife like small town friends). Shannon took the first photos, and got the first word. The Newtown Bee website is now down (Their webserver isn't great, but it's not THAT bad)

First reports up until the successful evacuation to the firehouse all witnesses reported "one or two shots". There was no panic.

The claims of a second shooter are also very odd. The police pulled someone out of the woods wearing camo pants, and the guy was screaming "I didn't do this!" and things like that, as they paraded him past parents and put him in the back of a car.

The car was reported to be a black honda. Police later are looking for a "red or burgundy sedan with a blown out rear window", then finally a minivan.

The guns changed all the time too, and as far as "Bullet Proof Vest" that remains to be seen.

yup, latest is now that he drove his mom's black civic to the school. it's all whatever they want it to be until its actually the truth.

and now, ugh, umm, ahh, Dannel, ahh umm Malloy, will uhh tell us about uhh umm OH YAY! Paul Vance is taking over and he can actually form a complete sentence.

I'm glad the media coverage is terrible, in fact, I wish there was none at all. Mabye then there would be less maniacs that go shoot up innocent people for their 15 minutes of fame.

The death toll is up to 27 and I'm sure it will jump higher once all of the next of kins have been notified. I'm so disgusted... children, really? Innocent elementary kids? What a fucking disgrace.

Brings back bad memories... I was at VT when we lost 32 Hokies :(

My heart and prayers go out to all those directly affected by this tragedy.

Yes, please let everyone here know that I'm just foaming the milk here. This is really devastating. I didn't know anyone involved, but it is literally in my backyard. This is the town that I come from (As well as another Hondaswapper here).

That said, it is the habit of the media (As we saw with the Trayvon Martin shooting) they will shotgun blast all sorts of shit . I mean they will let the misinformation FLY. Then they will step back and cherry pick data that sounds sexy, and then push that as the truth.

The media is guilty of this.

Here is the prime example:

Facebook page of Hoboken man identified as Connecticut shooter: 'It wasn't me' | NJ.com

The guy who's facebook profile is in the news as a murderer has come forward to say "I was at work"

This is what I mean. The media just flushes the toilet and lets EVERYTHING go out until it's found to support some agenda (That they continuously get called out on) or until someone fights the dishonesty.

Whats with interviewing third graders? I mean seriously. What in the hell does a third grader have to offer us in terms of relevant factual news. This is a terrible thing for their community and the media is doing nothing at all to actually help the situation.

In other news, "The younger brother of the shooter" was being held in New Jersey. Also "Originally from Newtown but living in New Jersey - The shooter had legally obtained his guns". No one in New Jersey can get a gun. No one can legally transport a firearm from New Jersey into CT.

Go home and hug your loved ones today people.

This is terrible. My prayers for the victims, families, teachers, school, authorities. This is so tragic.

A couple ladies at my work start crying because they all have kids and don't know what they'd do if this happened at their schools. Really hit home with most people here.

i don't even know what to say.... I've been watching this all day...im just angry and sick over it. i can't possibly imagine how someone can have thoughts like this. How can someone sit there and say "im going to kill a school full of children today".

Those poor parents. God bless them.

And now all the gun control nut freaks are making their cases because they think this has to do with guns. Gun control will never stop someone who has sick twisted thoughts like this from doing evil. If it's not guns, that it's going to be homemade bombs, or molotovs or something other way of getting it done.

That was the intent. The media now uses these instances as a ladder to climb up and yell their agenda from the top.

I still have a residence in that state, but I'm glad I'm out of there. It's about to be a bad, bad place to be. Whenever I visit that crummy state I'm reminded of how much bullshit it is.

i'm pretty sure i'd rather be shot than stabbed.
just sayin
