I'm talking about first responders though. i'm friends with several, and with the town 911 services.
The media coverage of this was pathetic. This morning news crews actually filmed themselves driving 100 mph up rt 84 trying to keep up with the police. They thought it was a fuckin game.
Then when onsite, they tricked the police into letting them through (Proudly, mind you) then told everyone on the news (Channel 7) how to get around the barricades and use sideroads to get to the site. Then they went on to make it look like they were caught in gunfire ("We're so scared ! There are police here with assault weapons and they may shoot anytime!")
First on scene was a Newtown Bee reporter (I know everyone at that office, including my ex wife like small town friends). Shannon took the first photos, and got the first word. The Newtown Bee website is now down (Their webserver isn't great, but it's not THAT bad)
First reports up until the successful evacuation to the firehouse all witnesses reported "one or two shots". There was no panic.
The claims of a second shooter are also very odd. The police pulled someone out of the woods wearing camo pants, and the guy was screaming "I didn't do this!" and things like that, as they paraded him past parents and put him in the back of a car.
The car was reported to be a black honda. Police later are looking for a "red or burgundy sedan with a blown out rear window", then finally a minivan.
The guns changed all the time too, and as far as "Bullet Proof Vest" that remains to be seen.
