Appearently there's a new flu 'outbreak' happening. H3N2 this time.

Curious to see the poll results on this one.

I had a cough and phlegm for about 48 hours and then it was gone. Feel great.

well, that's technically not the flu.
I had a sinus infection or something a few weeks back. tons of head pressure, dizziness.... but certainly not the flu.

Oh I know. I'm just saying those are the most symptoms I've had in the last few months.

I work in an office that is full of nastiness.

I have not had a flu shot, do not intend to get one, and hopefully I don't get sick.
I hear the shot only protects against an Influenza A variant, but people with the shot can still get the Influenza B variant. I guess its not even really flu season yet anyway, early onset. Hopefully I can avoid getting sick, I am already asking anyone I am going to see if they are sick and adjusting my plans accordingly.

Just got out of a meeting where this was stated. The flu shot "prevents" the normal flu but will not do anything for the new strain.

Also, I do not get flu shots and I have not been sick.

I typically choose the not get the flu shot. I have always held the opinion that I have an elevated immune system due to my job in education. I have only taken four sick days in 12 years and none of them were for being sick. Two were for hernia surgery, 1 was for an MRI and the last one was for potential pink eye.

I don't really get sick either. Never had a flu shot and never will.

I never get sick. Occasionally I'll get a scratch in my throat, or cough up some crap in my morning shower, but it'll be gone the next day. I attribute it to not being a germaphobe. You have to test your immune system to keep it strong, not hand sanitize every 20 minutes.

I never get the shot, and sometimes I get a fever for a day or 2. Havent had more then a slight cold this winter.

Its the same shit every year, like clock work. The avian flu, the swine flu or the "new" flu. Doesnt fuckin matter. Next year itll be somethin else.

got the flu shot the first part of october, got the flu first part of december. but it wasnt as bad or as long since i had the shot.

Never had a flu shot, don't remember ever having the flu.
I rarely get sick, but when I do its a head cold that turns into bronchitis.
Usually early spring is when that happens.

Fuck the flu shot, I don't trust that kind of stuff. My wife never gets them and our kid won't either.

Apparently the majority of us Hondaswappians have impeccable immune systems.

I haven't gotten a flu shot since I was a kid, and I haven't been sick from the flu since the third grade.

The annually updated trivalent influenza vaccine consists of hemagglutinin (HA) surface glycoprotein components from influenza H3N2, H1N1, and B influenza viruses.[16] The dominant strain in January 2006 was H3N2. Measured resistance to the standard antiviral drugs amantadine and rimantadine in H3N2 has increased from 1% in 1994 to 12% in 2003 to 91% in 2005.[17][18]
wonderful news, lets see if we can't accidentally force evolution to create the next big plague

I've always thought the purpose of flu shots was to weaken the populations immune system and to raise the resistance of flu bugs so that eventually a major plague happens and "cleanses" the population... just kidding. But you never know. Our government has done more evil things before, I'm never surprised anymore.

With the wife being pregnant her doctor is strongly urging her to get a flu shot, but we're having trouble finding any that are preservative-free.
