Need some help. Just picked up a 93 Civic VX Hatch shell. Going simple and dropping in a D16Y8 motor. Problem is the car has no engine or cabin/dash harness or ecu. Can't really complain since it was free. Question to you all is which ecu do I get and which doner car can I pull the harnesses from? Thanks

The EG civics have a two piece engine/cabin harness, while the EK's have a one piece. To avoid a lot of confusion, just get the EG harness. You can either run an obd1 p28 ecu, or run the correct obd2 ecu for that engine with a jumper harness.

This, exactly.

It's not that easy, the obd2 ecu's look for more than the obd1's.
Fuel tank pressure and something else.
I tried it one time in an obd1 car, I could never get rid of all the codes, it always ran rich and shitty.
I was out $135 in the end and ended up running it on a p28.
Ran better with the p28 than the p2p w/cel's.

is the car not a hull ? i was thinking if it is then shouldn't it be easy just to add all the stuff from the origin of the motor and be done with it.

Even if it is just a hull, the engine/cabin harness will need to hook up to the EK insturment harness and the floor harness. I hightly doubt this will work. I am intrigued now, so I will try to check tomorrow.

Incorrect. Re-check your facts.
