I ran it in 2010.

Great fun, but the rampant cheating really made it un-fun. I won't be doing it again.

Teams who would go through inspection with a turd of an engine that barely ran, then after clearing tech would swap it with a crate engine.

Teams who would put a LSD rear into the standard housing.

Teams who would put a bottle or two of Stoli or Grey Goose in the engine bay and pass tech that way.

We were docked because we had a brand new radiator, and no "bribes" or other "offerings." :(

technically nobody would ever know if there was an LSD added to a FWD car...

Except that the judges reserve the right to buy your car for $500 cash on the spot, and you can't refuse.

How do they value a car that you've owned for awhile? Like say, an Integra you've owned for 10 years...

This is not cheating, this is the way it is done. If you're not doing it too, then you're not playing to the extent of the rules. Don't get your panties in a bunch because you assumed this was gentleman's racing, it is not. ;)

We always come with bribes. We have a quaife LSD in our old ass beatup looking housing. Our motor looks like shit on the outside but is really high compression with a cam. lol.

You do know there is also the teams curse award that can effectively remove a car from the race entirely. Also, judges remember cars so next race they can get hit with penalty laps if they were obvious.

In reality none of this really makes a difference. You're out there running for hours on end. Lap times by seconds are not going to win the race. Staying out on track, being consistent, no infractions (waste time to come in) with quick pits for refueling wins the race.

Yeah, my team came from SCCA Solo and Pro Solo, so we were thinking "these are the rules, don't break them, at all, ever. ever. or else." kinda thing.

After I talked to you I realized that we didn't cheat "enough."

You just need a reliable car that has good MPG and a team who is consistent and can do quick pits.

Yeah, the biggest thing that killed my team was the car's reliability.
In LeMons, that is usually the case. :p

Also watch the top running teams when they pit. They are fucking serious about it and quick. We got our pits down to 3 min, parked near track exit/entrance and stayed out in the car for 2.5 hour intervals per driver/refuel. This kept us in the top 10. A few infractions kept us at 11, we could have done better if we were cleaner.

Second biggest thing that killed us was the penalties. :(

Guys who bribed the judges got away without penalty, but since we didn't even think that bribery was a possibility, we got screwed.

We did sign all of our scrapes, scrubs, and cracks on the car, lol.

The bribes can give you a "get out of jail free card". You still have to come in to the paddock, give them the card, explain the situation, most of the time change the driver... by that time you're already fucked.

I remember the last one we had to do was find 1 coin of penny, nickle, dime and quarter with the date the same year our car was built.. lol

Ours was 1983 at the time. We had to go around the paddock bumming around. Found some lady with a huge jar of change in her motor home. Score!

After the first day of testing, we were all WIPED OUT.

Two more days of balls to the walls racing our shitbox, and we were all totally dead on Sunday. I remember going home, unloading my car, and falling asleep sitting up on the couch.

It was equivalent to about a week solid of autocross. I remember getting out of the car after my laps and thinking to myself that there's no way autocross is going to scratch the itch anymore, lol.

lol, That's what I decided after my first day of motorcycling on the track.

haha, I remember after doing a 2.5 hour stint driving balls to the walls in 105 degree ambient temp and not being able to get out of the car on my own or stand. They drug me out of the car for that driver change. I didn't realize how tired I was until I actually stopped. lol
