I need to replace the brakes on my fiance's 2008 Civic EX. Approx 50k on it.
She wants to go with Honda brake pads. I was against that and was thinking about going with the duralast gold from autozone or the wagner ceramics from advance.
My thinking is that the Honda pads wear out quick on the newer cars. With the advance or autozone they have the lifetime warranty. I am not sure which one is better. I bet the cheaper of the two would be perfectly fine. Are the Honda pads good?

With rotors would you just go with like the durlast standard ones or is it worth going to Honda for them. I have used the cheapest ones from autozone and they were fine.
 
I use duralast gold on all my cars and SUVs and they work fine
Best part about it is I change em out once every few years with heavy driving and only played for them once.
 
Get the expensive lifetime warranty pads from your parts supplier of choice, and coat them with MOC QuietBrakes or BG Stop Squeal, which is available on eBay for under ten bucks. Those are both 'wholesale-only' type things for the most part, as far as I know you'll never find that in any retail store. It's not like the 'quiet squeal' spray or lube shit you buy over the counter, you actually pour this on the surface of the pads and allow it to soak in and dry (About ten minutes). I buy this stuff by the case, it's amazing - I mostly use it on the higher-end pads that squeak no matter what - it works GREAT. Learned about it back when I was at the dealer, they'd use it to upsell cheap brake pads that they marked the price way up on.

I'm not a rep for the stuff or anything, it's just a wicked awesome product that basically allows you to pick whatever the fuck pad you want based on the performance of the pad, and not have to worry about getting squeaks and squeals.

I have no fuckin' clue how it works though. :shrug2:

Hawk and brembos would be nice, but she doesn't drive the car hard. I think I might just get the lifetime pads at which ever one has a better deal.

Do you actually need new rotors? Most of the time steering wheel shake that feels like warped rotors is actually just cheapo pad material adhered unevenly to the rotor itself. Scotch-Brite and some elbow grease can clean that right up.
