Ok, so i know B plays pool and im sure there are others do to so here is a thread for it. :D

Yea, so last night was the last game of the session and I got worked.. not real happy about it.. i'm only skill level 4 in BCA and i played another 4 who played like a 6.. i was put up first so i said fuck it and bounced.. i guess the next 2 games went the same way.. they put a 4 up against our 5, he too played like a 6.. next game, they put a 4 up against our 6, again he played like a 6 too.. at that point our team captain forfeited himself and another player and left.. not a good way to end the session.. top shooter tournament is next week and we have 3 from our team on the list.. hopefully i do better there.

how was your night last night B? Or are you on a break right now?

If you play, post up what you shoot with and what league you play for

My playing cue is a Star, made by McDermott.. standard shaft for now, but my teammate gave me a Predator 314 that i'm gonna have rejointed for my butte and my break cue is my old heavy ass Cuetec with a med/hard Triangle tip.. would have gone with the one piece phenolic ferrule/tip combo but its not BCA legal

I didn't shoot last night... I was the alternate if you will. It was week 1 of the new session. We got a bit of a line up change this time around, so we'll see how things pan out.

we use house rules and 1-5 handicaps (1 = sucky 5 = expert) and handicap both on previous weeks results, total team HC(8), and posted players(5 play per night).
previous goes -3 to +3. and can spread, so a -3 playing a +3 walks in the door with 12 games won. lol

we play 5x5 for 25. it usually a race of 6-19 for us because we have a lot of higher handicappers. I'm a 1, sometimes 2 when I have a good run. I suck. its cool. lol i'm needed to keep the team handicap low and I usually get my 1 most nights, sometimes 2 or 3 which is a huge gain. where as a 5 who only gets 4 is a huge loss.

BCA it goes 2-8 (2= girls only 3=not good/ok 8=amatuer/pro)

since im a 4, if i were to play a 6.. i would have to win 3 before he wins 5
we have like 9 people on our team but 5 main players, couple stand-ins, couple that need to be taken off because they dont play ever
5 v 5 matches and total team skill cant be over 25

You have your own cue B? or you just use a house cue or a teammates?

I used to play quite a bit. Had a nice McDermott. I loved it b/c you can break with it without worrying (many cues will become damaged). I got into it b/c of a hustler I met. He taught me a lot about the game and betting. I played about 3-4 days a week for about two years. I would run 2-3 racks per week (nothing too special). No leagues....just for fun and for cash/drinks. I've gotten wasted off other people's money a lot. And still in the profit for betting. I did play in a few 32 person tournaments. Best was second. Guy put the 8-ball in on the break...ouch (much easier to do on a 4X8 table)

Sold my cue in college (needed cash). Wish I still had it. I had a nice hard leather case too. I just wasnt into the game as much and felt stupid carrying a case into a college bar. Now I just find a decent house stick (a nice round tip is much more important than a straight cue....a marker/pen fixes that quick)

I'd like to own a table someday but the "real" room needed for a table is crazy. My friend has a nice old school Brunswick that I'd love to own. It's got nice Simonis cloth (super fast with lots of action) and new rails.

Aren't McDermott cues wood threads for the shaft? Mine was. That's why they are okay to break with. My McDermott was almost $300 (about 15 years ago) and didn't look anything special.

What mm tip are you using? Small ones give tons of action but mis hits are more severe.

I only play for fun with friends occassionally. I usually get worked over until someone scratches on the 8 ball. Winning on a technicallity is fun enough.

The shaft is wood threaded, the joint pin is medal.. i just dont like breaking with it.. right now its a 13mm, not sure whats on the Predator im putting on.. probably smaller because of my friends style of shooting

Yeah 13mm is pretty much standard. I used a friend's once....8mm. Way too small for me. But it intensifies "English" put on the cue ball like crazy.

8mm?? never heard of anything that small.. 12mm is the smallest ive heard of

I've seen some slivers for tips. I think they typically range from 8-14mm. The smaller ones are probably considered old school or for snooker. The cue I shot with we old with nice pearl laid in a cherry wood stick. I've even shot $2000+ cue once. Looked great but not worth it to me.

I've even seen house cues with super small tips...but only a few times....and at places with snooker tables (freaking HUGE tables!)

my teammate, the one who gave me the Predator shaft, has an expensive ass cue like that.. i'm thinking its $7k+

snooker table are huge, with tiny ass pockets

I like predator shafts. Why kind of taper does it have?

Im not really sure.. all he told me was "i have an old predator shaft w/ new tip u can have...doesn't fit anything i have right now... come by, its just sitting in the hall closet"

werd.. only about $50 to rejoint and i have a $250 shaft.. lol .. a lot of people want the 314 because its retired and they dont sell it anymore.. they have the 314-2 now
