Installed over the weeked. Wicked easy...great deal from a company called Life Shield. No cost on the equipment. It's wireless and just sticks to the walls and ceilings(it does come with regular mounting hardware). Awesome Android app to control it. Came with 3 Window/Door Sensors, 1 Motion, 1 Fire. Got them to throw in an additional Motion for free, i'm sure i could have asked for another door/window but i don't really need it. Also comes with a wireless control tablet that ships after you activate the system. $35/m.

They have other sensors such as termostat, smoke, flood, temperature, wireless cameras

EDIT: only downfall is 63 month contract--and you pay 3 months of it in advance

That's really easy to jam. Both intentionally and unintentionally.

What happens when there's a jam condition on one of the sensors? Does it set off the alarm, or does the sensor become excluded from the alarm's logic until regular communication resumes?

how would it get "jammed"
 
long and short: It will 'stop' a petty theif. but anyone worth a damn will get it disabled in about 4 seconds.

Unless there's some sort of in-house interference that causes several of the sensors to "go dead," which is why I asked the questions I did.

I install these systems. I'm asking to help, not to put down someone's choice of castle defense.

welp ..only so much i can do...if someone has that much conviction to break into my house, no affordable security system in the world is going to help me.

I do get email alerts if the system goes off line or loses connection to the internet.

I'm going to add a 4 camera DVR Surveillence system with Android app monitoring for some beefed up security in the near future.
 
I think that's a safe assumption. Odds are, it's going to be a petty theif looking for copper or something these days over a real professional.

yeah i mean i've got loud barking dogs, security stickers and signs, alarm system and soon ..cameras. I mean if the guy wants to get it, i give him credit.

Very similar to what I tell customers.

"You try to deter, but video will help catch those who do, and you have insurance for when that doesn't work."

The biggest thing you want to do is to make it inconvenient to a thief.

Make your home uninviting.

I think the down side to your last statement is that you are also making it seem like you have a lot to protect...but you still do it ;P
 
There are things you can do that don't scream "Valuables Inside" to passersby.

Nra stickers just say "I have guns, break in when I'm not home or you'll get shot."
 
$35 a month, on a 63 month contract is $2,205. I think you got ripped off.

An ADT system of the same type would have been about $1000 out of pocket and over $50 a month. Thats $3150 + $1000 out of pocket...

i was getting a system no matter what so how is that a rip off?
