I got me a new DD a couple of weeks ago. The civic is just not comfortable to drive daily any more (no ac in the south). I really like this car so far.

It's a 2008 Audi A4 2.0t six speed manual transmission with 80k miles. It has the s-line body kit and door sills, but not the upgraded suspension, or steering wheel. The ride is great.

Love it dude. One thing about Audis they HAVE to be meticulously maintained and they need a certain kind of oil. If you stay on top of it, the car should treat you right.

Has the timing belt been done on it recently? If not, it'll be needing it sooner or later or sooner...

I have been looking into the oil a bit and I am still unclear on what kind to use. I have read something about it being a specific vw type, but I have not looked into it very much yet. Do you know anything about the oil that you can share?

How's it for acceleration? I've always kind of liked the 2.0t but never driven one.

I'm not sure about yours, a quick google search turned up this. I run the Mobil 1 0W40 European car formula. Shits expensive. Like $6/7 a quart.

"Mobil 1 - 0W40 - 502,00505
is one of them".

I looked up vw 502.00 approved oils and found a service bulletin from Audi that listed all the approved oils. It is a pretty long list of some good oil brands. It seems that 5w40 is the most recommended. 40 because it stands up to the heat from the turbo better than 30. There actually some 0w40 oils that are on the list, but I dont think that is really necessary since it never gets cold here.

As far as the acceleration...it us good. It won't throw you back in your seat, but for a four door sedan it is pretty quick. I have been looking into doing a reflash on the computer and there are some out there that will bring the car up to 255-265hp and close to 300 torque with no additional parts.

the 2.0T drives pretty nice and is responsive... VW/Audi cleaned up (got rid of) the turbo LAAAAGGGGGGGGGG that the 1.8T had

"Ok here are the results...
Base run was 129/hp 158tq
Add --K&N Drop filter 134 hq/159lb tq
Add-Bosch Injectors and APR Stage 1 tune---------------------------

182.91hp 237.57tq at the wheels on Dynojet"

Reliable?

I have done some reading on a few audi forums and found that audi is really strict on mods voiding warranties. I did get a 2 power train warranty with this car, so I may hold out for a while before doing any major engine mods. Suspension, breaks, etc should not be a problem, but I want to hold on to the warranty at least for a while. I have read that ARP and Stasis ecu flashes are pretty reliable, so I am not worried about doing it in the future. I also read a lot about the carbon build up that comes with DI cars and I am curious about how to keep the intake valves as clean as possible.

run a can of sea foam through the intake every couple of months, should do the trick.

The people I know with APR gear in their VWs/Audis LOVE it. No detection or warranty issues either with service trips to the dealer.

with the hyundai DI engines we use baffled catch cans. i should probably get mine installed........

From what I have read on some audi forums, it does not seem to do much. I am sure it does not hurt and I have good results on the civic, so I will most likely try.

I think the td1 designation generally comes from ecu flashing. Audi supposedly scans every car that comes in for service and checks for ecu flashing. If found it automatically uploads to corporate and gets flagged. Hardware mods are manually flagged by the service department, so if the SA/SM is cool, they may not flag the car. This is only hearsay and I have not personally verified this yet, but it is something that I want to look into.

I have been looking into a catch can. This model engine seems to have pcv problems and a catch can would probably take care of the problem for the most part.

Talk to APR directly- that information isn't exactly something they discuss on their web site since it's a touchy area- kinda like how Hondata doesn't ever explicitly say that you can cheat emissions with their K-Pro.
