yeah, I know.... lol

I like the car. I was hoping to keep it for a while as its almost paid for... but it needs some stuff and I don't really feel like doing it. ie, a clutch.
and the other day when it was hot out, i'm pretty sure I heard some detonation during a WOT pull. not sure. it might have been the lsd creaking... I've been taking it easy ever since regardless though. either way, my outlook on it has changed. the long-term outlook is starting to look bleak. I don't want to dump 1500 bucks on a clutch set up just to have it end up popping the motor because there's more load on it now that it doesn't slip... and the warranty hasn't been nice to some people who have blown up.
Further, i'm not looking for a project car. I just want a nice daily, that's pretty close to stock.

I've had it a while, since july of 09. so its been 4 years now. And is officially the longest car I've owned, save for the del sol which I didn't drive most of its life. lol

so, i'm thinking about putting it back to stock (all i have is an intake, catch cans, and reflash anyway...) and buying something else. maybe new... probably not. 2008 ish or newer is probably what i'm looking at.

I demand a well-driving car that has some nut or i'll be bored of it in a week.

honestly, the 2013 genesis with the v6 is peaking my interest more than anything. it's a bit more than I want to spend though. I'd LOVE to find something in the 15 grand price range with 30k on it ish instead like an off lease cpo'ed dilly at a 2nd market dealership. most of those are audis and bmw's and while nice, I really don't think I want to go down that road again. maintenance costs blow and dealers around here don't want to do shit to a car you didn't buy from them.

things im NOT interested in include subarus, g35/7/z's,

a hatch might be nice. the new focus is pretty cool. but I don't really want a fwd car either.

ugh.

lol

I know, im annoying and i'm already annoyed with thinking about this. so, yeah. any suggestions, post em up. otherwise, tell me to gfms.

how many miles on the genesis?
i would prob just nut up and do the clutch and hold onto the car for a couple more years

Isn't it low miles?

Personally, I'd look at a 335i, or Lexus IS350ish. (might be too slow for you). Those are what I like currently. RWD, plenty of power, and 4 door for nights out on the town.

you've been babying that clutch for months now.

just do the required maintenance, fix it, and keep it. pretty much anything you look at would be way more money maintenance wise. the v6 gene is pretty nice though.... and you could leave it stock.

Do you like the VW CC? This place in East Windsor is the best place hands down to ever buy a car from. i've sent several people there. They deal in german cars. it's where i bought 3 audis and a VW from, boss just got a 2009 Mercedes e350 from them and other people have bought from them as well...NOT A DEALSHIP style car place. Take the car you want on a test drive, no one goes with you, if you like it cool, if not no big deal. They service everything as well.

yeah i'[ve been to north bay before. a guy a work with got his car there too and liked them.

im just under 30k on it now.

i'm more concerned about the detonation than anything. I don't mind doing the clutch work... I just don't want to do the work for nothing if its going to blow up on me. and then what? a short block is 5500 bucks on the used market. WAY more than I want to spend for anything.

335i is nice, but its WAY over my price range... and I don't really care for the looks of th new bmws either. honestly, 30 is already more than I want to spend. 15 is what I WANT to spend. I'd probably buy a c-class instead of a 3. but I don't want a frigging auto either. lol

c350 only come in auto?

So here is a list of moderately powerful cars that aren't FWD.

A4 3.2
328i
330i
335i
C350
Mustang GT 5.0
Volvo S60R
Genesis
370z
IS350

The above cars can be had for around 20-30k with relatively low mileage depending on what years and how patient you want to be. The IS350 will be by far the most reliable and cheapest to maintain. The Mustang will be fastest.

You should just buy a golf cart and put a lawnmower engine in it.

put the stock flash back on it and some dry gas
i doubt its going to blow up anytime soon, but i know nothing about them

Wait a sec...

... The all mighty Hyundai is experiencing detonation ? That was pretty quick.

Have you considered a less-than-new Porsche 911 ?

I don't know for sure what it was. I couldn't tell where it was coming from. reproducing it purposeful may be, well, stupid, and end up costing a lot of money.

stock flash sucks. :/ its a night and day difference. i'm pretty sure after 2 days of having the stock flash on it, i'll be trying to trade it in for real. lol Its like banging a 10 and then going to a 4 :/

I have little interest in a 911. nice cars, sure, but not for what I need a car for... too much insurance and maintenance costs.

not interested in these really at all

But a used 335. It's in your budget. You can get a low mileage '08 or newer for less than $20k. It'll still be in the extended CPO warranty.

Only real issue - aside from the fuel pump which seems to have quieted down after the new pumps and flashes, is carbon build up.

If I didn't have a bad back and drive so many miles, I would have kept mine. Flash it with a Cobb access port for $700 - 400hp, 28mpg. BMW luxury. Just make sure you get one with the premium package and options. Sports package if you don't mind the stiff ride.

yeah, a used 335i sounds ok. but there isn't a single one within 100 miles of me it looks like anyway....
and every single car is a slush box.

ehh, i dunno.....

Really? They were tough to find in 2010 when I picked mine up but they became a dime a dozen. I bought mine about $5k under market. I would've taken a bath on resale if I didn't buy so low because resale took a huge hit when availability increased.

Sedans were especially cheap.

every single car is a fucking automatic.

Ebay, there's 5 manuals.
3 are xi's.

2.

there are 2 manuals for sale. lol and they are 11's and 40 grand

Edit: you already said no Mustangs.

Hrm... What about a Cayman S?

Who are you?

Who uses eBay anymore. Craigslist or autotrader/cars.com.

Quick, report back.
