Might be trading the SHO

might be cool as a toy, or side project, but not a daily driver. chicks like air conditioning, and not to be seen in some old bucket car. save up some money for a year, while driving your current bucket, and then buy something newer and nicer. my .02

you know what, fuck trading for the celica, the sho might also be a turd, but ive dropped a pretty large chunk of change in it, I know its reliable, it gets good mpgs. tradign for a 83 celica that hasent been tagged/registered is prob going to be more of a nightmare than anything, and it will be a slow turd

Im sure the Celica is plenty reliable... it has the 22r and its a hell of a motor... no powerhouse though... trd does make cams for it too

performance parts are stupid cheap, but I allready make more than double whp than it does crank

my sho is a 89 lol and . . . Slow Gutless RWD<Ballsy Comfortable FWD ( talking about the celica )

You should do it so we can have an 80's import war. lol

and that ka s12 is going to be pretty peppy , like going from d15 to b18c , the ca20 that came in it are pretty much truck motors, we never got ca18s usdm, like I said they came in 180sx's

I know it will be reliable without a doubt, but its got cancer in places , sho doesnt, sho gets 27mpg highway, sure celica wont, sho has every hose, clutch, fuel pump, bushings, struts, springs, brakes, oil change, tune up, plugs wires, everything replaced, celica doesnt, I bet if I get that celica and start dd'ing it (I drive 60+ miles a day) it will break down, the tank has to be drained and sealed in the celica as well because theres rust in it, im good, the sho is comfortable and quick

It will have the same damned rust. It's 100hp v somewhere near 140hp. Not that big of a deal until you're WOT at the peak RPM.

But yeah, if you can SEE rust around the plastic body goodies, then there is no metal at all under the plastic body goodies. Sorry, not a great idea.

I havent looked at the car personally yet, but shoob says theres a dime sized rust hole on the hatch, but im guessing if its there, its in other places as well, and I hate dealing with cancer, id rather just keep my turdbox and keep making it nicer, under a month I can have it on nice wheels, a full exhaust , and the moog springs all the way around setting nice , and its fast

If that's all it has, then it's a steal.

That's never all it has though. Finding rust in these cars is hard as hell. The hatch is a prime example of what I was saying before about how Japan had to rust-proof their cars. The inner folds of the steel never got the spray. Water just collects and it goes to shit. My dad's 82 Supra needed a new hatch in 86. Hell, even Turbomirage has learned that Toyota hasn't learned to deal with this issue.

That said - You'll never find another of these. If it's stock, keep it stock. If you need it as a daily I wouldn't risk it. All it takes is some clown to hit the car and you'll NEVER find factory steel for it to make it good again. Toss it in a garage ? Sure. trade your daily for it ? Eh.. I don't think it's the smartest thing you could do.

I mean, that's exactly what I've done in the past .. but I wouldn't recommend it.

I had to care for an AW11 4AGZE as a daily until 2004. Not easy. Makes getting bits for the BMW seem like a walk in the park.

the hatch isnt the original hatch. zero dents, or rust on the body. i personally was gonna buy the car, and dilbeck knows i wont buy junk when it comes to toyota classics. were (me and current owner) are dropping the tank tomorrow, for a good cleaning and inspection as well as replacing the fuel sock. i did a tune up today on it. guess what guys..... a/c works.
