Funny story..

So she fell in love with the GMC Acadia as the family mobile. I agreed because it could tow (my only requirement for her car :) ). Therefore she decides she wants a color/option combo that was near impossible to find for some reason, with tow package.. So I found one in Portland Oregon yesterday and she decides she wants it. So then we decide to fly up there and buy it to drive home. Now we need to find a babysitter for our two kids over night, thank god my sister was in town visiting and buy tickets for us to fly out of SFO in 3 hours. We get to Portland and I realize I left my check book at home. DOH! Anyways, they allow me to put 25% of the down and drive the car home, wire the rest tomorrow.

We now embark in our near 10 hour drive back home leaving Portland around 8:00 p.m. Mind you I have to work the next day. So I decide to sleep first while she drives the state of Oregon. I slept maybe 30 minutes then drove from Yreka, CA to Walnut Creek, averaging 90 mph the entire way. Got home around 4:00 a.m. to sleep for 3 hours then wake up for work..

Anyways, the car is actually really cool. It's got decent power and drives really comfortably. Also it can tow 5,500 lbs which is about the same as the ML, so I'm happy about that. And now I get to drop the shitty ML. Anyways, here is a pic of her. :)

the day when GMC > Mercedes????? never saw that coming!

enjoy!

The only vehicle I have been in that is even remotely comparable to this is a Chevy Equinox (Dad's work vehicle) and it's decent except for the seats. I'm not sure what purpose they are designed for, but it is certainly not to comfortably seat a human. And it had the transmission and throttle body replaced before 60k.

This looks much nicer and I imagine the build quality on the GMCs is higher.

friends don't let friends drive (crappy) suv's :)

why no cayanee turbo? :(

update your sig y0

No Cayenne turbo? Get this, the wife didn't want "too nice" of a car because it would get trashed by kids. I couldn't agree more. :p

The Cayenne and X5 were originally the cars we were looking at.

yeah, I guess as a kid hauler, it makes perfect sense.

I remember the horror stories from bill about working on the Odessey's at the dealership. rotten breast milk on carpets... cheerios everywhere. lol

My buddies wife just got a 2012 last year fully loaded she loves it. she was driving a 2001/2002 trailblazer before. been in it a few times, it's pretty comfy as a passenger...had all sorts of gadets an gizmos...nice lil SUV

Too late now, but should have looked at the new 4runners.. optional 3rd row seating to fit 7, tow capacity of 5k lbs

We did. Didn't like the way it drove.

The Acadia drives like a big car, its nice. Doesn't feel like a "truck".

163 ML is one of the biggest pile of shits ever made... However, they are a HUGE part of my salary :D

Hope she enjoys the new car :)

I had to do some lease returns to Honda when I was at Infiniti. Holy hell. 2-3 year old cars that you have to drive with the windows down. Same went for the Infiniti QXs though. After they left the lot, they were almost instantly trashed.

I saw one of these today in an "Incident" on Rt 8 in CT.

Someone driving one in the right lane, slides out to the left lane right into someone. No contact, but they panicked and brought it back into their lane.

Problem is, it went up on 2 wheels. And it came crashing down so fast, that it appeared the whole thing was being acted out with models.

A few of my buddies have the highlander. And that thing is a roadtrip machine, and actually great in the city too as people hauler. They're kind of spendy though for what you get, but super reliable, good in the snow. Not exactly fun to drive though.
