from what i have read on there, it seems to only be a proposal for DC. nowhere else... yet.

completely fucking stupid. and the artist they interviewed is right, all that is going to do is push more people to go to their buddy who learned to tattoo watching youtube videos.

That's normally how more laws work. Causes people to do stupid things to avoid the laws that are stupid in the first place.

Aka getting ink in a kitchen with dickspeckle.

Not a bad idea I think. Reduces the number of alcohol/drug influenced tattoos and piercings.

Might yield a reduction in tramp stamps. If you really want a tattoo and have researched the art and price then you probably won't have a problem with waiting 24 hours.

Based on some of the quality of ink jobs that I've seen in a lifetime, this is probably a fairly reasonable ban.

/trolls.

Is this really DCs first priority?

And I go to a friend of a friend anyway. Doesn't effect me.

Most tattoo shops have signs right on the doors, no tattoos if under the influence.

If that's the problem just make a law that you cant do any walk in tattoos after 9pm

As far as bad ink goes, that's because people ask for stupid tattoos, or get bad artist that suck because they are cheap. Most tattoos I see suck. Has nothing to do with them being drunk.

I think it's just people not knowing. My first tattoo I got at a shop where a friend got a great tattoo. I didn't even go to the same artist, just figured the shop was legit. Luckily what I got was fairly simple. Anything elaborate I would probably now hate.

I have friends who have walked out of shops pissed off at how bad something was, and told me they paid the guy. One $500 piece was misspelled. Led to a few thousand in a cover up by a real artist. I think shows like Ink Master and Tattoo Nightmares are informing people though.

Then again, some people just love going to tattoo parties.

im pretty sure its ct law that you ca'nt be drunk to get ink.

Any good artist won't tattoo a drunk client anyway. I've even had friends turned away because they were hungover. You bleed like crazy in those scenarios. Not condusive to a good tattoo. My first experience, the needle touched my skin and the guy asked how much I had drank the night before. I wasn't even hungover by my standards.

Thats the part, you get some shady artist or some wanna be artist that don't give a shit if someone if passed out drunk.

If you're dropping 500-1000+ for permanent ink on the skin, is it really too much work for one to actually do some research on the tattoo artist?

What would be stopping anyone in DC who wants a tattoo to wander just outside the city limits and getting one anyway? I agree it's a stupid proposal, but very easy to avoid.

Exactly. You can't legislate people out of being stupid. Unfortunately, legislators don't get that.

More government control is all it seems to me....

Harrison Bergeron soon will be upon us

Maybe they should administer IQ tests and if you score below a certain threshold you're only allowed cartoon characters.
