Picked this up today. Bought it from an older couple - had a woman rider and she was the first owner. 9500 miles, garage kept, never been down or dropped, bone stock except for a yoshi slip on and a tank guard. Have only rode it briefly but I can already tell I am going to thoroughly enjoy this bike. On to the pics

Bike looks awesome Matt!

Thanks man!
I just bought some kind of fender eliminator... Best purchase I made for that bike other than new tires.
I'm just going to buy a kit as well. After looking at it last night, I'm just too lazy to cut all that stuff up. The stock fender is so damn ugly.. as are the stock mirrors. I ordered a set of bar ends to fix that though.

Helmet, gloves, cover, and replacement visor for my helmet should be here early this week. Can't wait to get on the road.

EDIT: I'll be needing tires soon, the tires that came on it are really squared off lol

Be careful with bar end mirrors. You can't see shit in them.

I'd say just learn how to ride it well, get some good quality seat time. Maybe do some track days at Spokane and then see if you want to upgrade to something a bit faster and a little more nimble. I loved mine, it was a blast to ride.

Looking good!

You upgraded to a GSXR didn't you? How does it compare to the SV as far as street riding is concerned?

I went down to the DMV and got my permit today, insurance is on the bike - just waiting for the agent to e-mail me my card. Helmet and gloves will be here in a few hours, looks like I'll be on the road this weekend! I'm planning on riding this week, maybe the week after, and then taking the riding test for my endorsement. I have to call and setup an appointment for that, but supposedly they perform the tests all the way in to October.

Well I put about 400 miles on the bike yesterday. It was a blast to say the least. I am getting comfortable on it and actually rounding off the squared back tire slowly. on to some pics

What about jacket, pants and boots? Get some gauntlet gloves. Short gloves suck when they hit the ground. You want something that goes over your jackets sleeves.

As far as SV VS GSX-R, too many things to factor, SV is a great bike but the 650 sucks at highway speeds, backroad wise it's perfect. SV1000 on the other hand is a much better highway bike due to the torque and being able to roll out from a 60mph roll.

I agree with everything he just said.

Short, wrist-length gloves suck when you hit the ground at 80mph. The SV650 is great for back roads, but it's not a good highway bike. It loves to be at 90mph though.

Full gear is coming this winter. With only a few weeks left in the season, I just wanted to get some seat time in before I get the bike out for next season.

Yea the SV is a blast for back roads riding. I wanted something with more top end power for the straights without going straight to a 1000.

I do miss my SV though, was a great bike.

Just added Rizoma LED signals. They look much better than stock and brighter, too! Updated pics along with one more from last weekend's ride
